Hello! Newbie here to this forum and to Telluride. We've attended many east coast fests over the years, but it's been our dream to attend Telluride. I'm going to do my best to make it happen next year. We are flying in, so camping probably won't work for us. Is there anyone willing to share some insight about lodging other than the camping sites. I'm trying to understand if we stayed off site how we would get to and from the festival during the days. Having never been in the area I don't have a good feel for if things are within walking distance, or if there are shuttles/busses/public transport, or if there is even day parking. I'm also considering renting a camper van and trying for a camping spot too. I would welcome your experienced opinions, advice, recommendations, and guidance on the best way for out-of-staters to make the most of the event. And please by all means, if you have other advice or tidbits you wish you knew your first time, please share. Thank you for your help and for letting me join this great community.
Plenty of lodging, but it is EXPENSIVE. Transportation will not be an issue. There are busses and the gondola if you are in Mountain Village. Camper/Camper Van options would be limited but are available with a bus ride in to town.
If you are looking for lodging, booking a year out is your best bet.
The best way to do TBF is camping in Town Park, but that can be difficult flying in as you need all your gear and these nuts get all the good spots over a week before the festival starts.
However you do TBF, camping, condo, Camper. I HIGHLY recommend doing it. It is one of the most beautiful places on earth and has changed my life for the better every year I have attended.
WELCOME to the festivarian family!
