Personally I've attended about 9 outdoor lowered capacity music events. Some we hosted, others friends hosted at their homes, and a few at local brewery patio. All of these were successful non spreading events where you wore a mask anytime you weren't in your seated area.
I'm comfortable now doing those sized events. As we move forward with both vaccinations, and the numbers of survived infections I'll feel safer in a couple months attending larger outdoor concerts/festivals. But, I've been thinking about how moving forward what are the best practices for having safe events. In a situation like Telluirde you have the unique opportunity to both temp, check and rapid test every person entering town (could even do two day tests and "quarantine till results), after temp check and tests, at which you could also get wristbanded and tickets exchanged, then you could proceed to camp. If everyone just maintained distance and masking until your results (which could be texted). After a negative result you should be free to meander about town and camp with no worries. And, no one with a positive test result would be allowed entry into festival grounds.
I'd be willing to pay extra for testing, and the infrastructure needed to do that.
Also be willing to come and quarantine for two weeks in Town Park, hehe.
But, what are y'alls ideas, thoughts, fears in moving forward with outdoor entertainment. The drive -in approach is stellar, but not all towns even have drive-ins anymore.
What requirements would you need to feel safe? Some folks say that we may never truly be safe with the current level of rising mutations. At which point I have to ask, when do we make the difficult decision to re-create normal for those willing to take risks, and how do we create a new normal to incorporate those who are vulnerable?
As always I hope everyone is doing well, wearing masks, and getting out as safely as possible. Everyday I see more and more live music being booked, which thrills me! Hope all of you will join me on my birthday February 18th for a free Billy Strings birthday stream!
