Thanks everyone for posting the links that you've found! It would be great if Planet Bluegrass staffed some well qualified volunteers to capture the weekend. I'm not one of them, but I bet there are some very talented writers who would jump at the opportunity. Even basics like set lists are hard to track down.

My friend John did this for many years.
 See http://secondstorygarage.com/top-10-musical-moments-from-telluride-bluegrass-2013/  as an example.
He is no longer able to attend due to health reasons.

Silver and the guy was uber friendly and very nice. Medal Medal Medal It was center stage about 4 rows in it was HUGE!

But that is what it is all about reaching out and steppin in. I was getting good at it. And feel as if the shade tents  are exclusive and should be the same open door policy.

I'm kinda surprised how many people treat the tarps so seriously. I'm normally with 2-4 people, so maybe it's more of an issue with large groups, but I've never had a problem using someone else's tarp. Ask politely, don't be super loud, or encroach too much on the space, and you're usually met with friendliness.

Welp let me tell you a story SON. I was new to this Fest my 4 friends said, "watch the tarp" and all went to get beer and snacks. It was a break between sets. Our tarp was up front and center and we slept in the rain in a puddle all night just to get THAT SPOT! LOL
So as my friends had all given me the command WATCH THE TARP and I being the responsible gal that I am noticed everyone starting to move in on me and my tarp so many people LOL
Feeling overwhelmed I laid down on the tarp diagonally to take up space. LOL Folks started walking over me. LOL It was hilarious.
I finally got up went to the bathroom got a drink and came back.

The tarp was still there and like someone had a huge squeegee and swiped them all away they were gone. Respectively to their own tarps. OK I got this next time. So funny. Watch the tarp. Right. Cheers

Since this has turned into a thread about tarp size (although I have REALLY enjoyed the articles and photos) I thought I'd tell you how another fest deals with tarps.

I hit the New Orleans Jazz Fest neraly every year and they had tarp and chair problems (too large, people creating chair fences, etc).  So a couple years ago they decided to do something about it.

Now chairs are ONLY allowed behind the soundboard.  If security sees a chair in front, the peopl are told to move it or lose it.

Tarps area alowwed everywhere, but during the tarp run, security guards are there to measure them.  if your tarp is too big, you have two options.  Lose it, or fold it.  Most fold, then wait for security to leave then unfold.  But security always comes back around.  Unfold more than once and they take your tarp. It's really made the GA area better for smaller groups.  Larger groups just bring many tarps so they can sit together.
