Will PB have anyway of letting us know how we are doing...

IE: make an annoucement that in 2007- there were X number runs to dump
or x number pounds recycled, compotsed etc

Then, next year- they can state there were this many in 2008 , so we beat 2007 by so many

In 2010, announce a new goal beating 2009 etc...

Another thing I was thinking of that is along the same lines is a "borrowing box"  I'm trying to lighten the load while I'm packing and there is alot of stuff that I take "just in case." Most of this stuff, I'm sure many people take "just in  case" as well.. Do you think a box set up with stuff in it like duct tape, twine, mallets, extra stakes, extra marking ribbons, etc would work, sponges, measuring cups, trash bags, dishwashing soap.  People can make some donations and then it could be put to communal use..

Ok, over on the low back chair thread it was mentioned to recycle chairs that aren't going to be taken home. I think something to work on is a collection point for "disposable" gear? that way those that want can take home said gear and return with it next year to a free gear distribution point.  what'ya think PB? all it takes is a couple of signs, and we spread the word?
wouldn't a storage unit in TRide be nice? think of the energy savings if people didn't have to haul half the crap they need?

Good idea Rick! I have several chairs that have been rescued over the last few years that I bring back with me if I have room. I know a lot of folks fly in  Flyer and have to buy stuff when they get here, then can't take it so they either give it away or leave it at the dumpsters.  I try to bring extra stuff so it can be used by those who don't drive or have limited space for gear. I do the same with warm clothing I have, since I live in the mtns. and have extra. It may not be  brand new, but it is clean and it WILL keep the chill off. So anyone who needs a chair or a warm fleece top, come and find me. It makes me very happy to share when it make others happy and warm and comfortable.  If you don't need it after the festival, just return it. If it is something you want to keep, it's yours.  kiss

ok for those coming from the west or northwest, if you take US191 through Moab to hwy 46 at La Sal Jct. (turns into hwy 90 at the CO border) to hwy 145, it's 49 miles shorter and takes about 5 min. longer than going through  Grand Jct. and Montrose. hey 49 miles is about 3 Gals of fuel  one way, X how many  festivehicles?

On the light issue, I work with wheelchairs and have access to recycle batteries that lose their ability to power the chair efficiently so I use them with solar chargers and have power inverters to power all kinds of stuff at the site. I usually string line-lights so that we can have light without using the propane lanterns. I was the popular guy out in Mary E a few years back when a bunch of people found that they could charge their cell phones in my site.  Cheers  Teleski

When you have things you want to come bag Tag them with your name and camp, it might help...
We have a "borrow box" and a free box in Runamuck...

Our goal this year is to have quantified data regarding how much compost, recycling, and trash was collected. Be sure to keep an eye out for it during the weeks after the festival.
