Since there are no trees to tie anything to, does everyone use easy ups or similar? With only 6 inch stakes, how do you keep it from blowing away. I'm planning to walk in with a wagon load and backpack only. Suggestions? Thanks!

Hey LAD!  I asked the same (1st paragraph) and this is what Telluride Tom said:

Hey all!  We're camping at Werner Field and bringing our 10x10 shade tent.  I have a few questions and looking for recommendations for stake options while camping here:
I have some pretty hefty stakes i usually use, but considering the 6in requirement (which i understand and respect), here are my questions:
I am preparing for all types of weather, but whats the wind like?
Have folks' experience been that shorter stakes are ok and do the trick?
If not, do peeps bring extra weights? Extra stakes, doubling down on tie downs?
I dont want to be 'that camp' whose 10x10 flying through the field.  :vibes
Thanks all!  See ya in 5 weeks!

Telluride Tom:
The wind can get pretty nasty at times. I've seen EZ-ups blown into the tops of trees.
I would suggest as a backup to the stakes you have a bunch of gallon water jugs tied to the legs and bring the canopy down if the wind really gets going. When you use stakes, be sure that they are pounded in at an angle towards the center of the canopy. If you pound them straight into the ground they will pull up in a small gust.  Thumbs Up

 Wave
A really good way to secure the pop ups is four 5 gallon buckets with lids, fill em with water and tie them to each corner in addition to those 6 inch stakes.

Thanks Hippie -
Will single gallon beverage jugs serve well in lieu of 5 gal buckets?

1 gallon weighs 7 pounds, 5 gallons = 35 lbs. Heavier the better.

The hard part is running with your 4 5-gallon buckets full of water on the tarp run.

I did just a little bit of research,  but are Tiki Torches allowed ?   I know Telluride has the air quality act  and no camp fires or fire pits,  but  Tiki's ?

Thanks!!!

I think they have a no open-flame rule. So I would leave the Tiki torces at home. Solar lights are welcome!
