whoa -- just purchased and installed a new 500 gig hd. now I have some room to operate. I was a Great Taper from 1973 to 1983. I'm publishing many of my Tapes right now -- SBDs, AUDs, FOBs -- miracles on tape. All sources are Lossless Audio only. Bit Torrents are seeded at etree. Fire up your bt clients, jump on over to bt-dot-etree-dot-org, and hop on the history-making torrents that I've Just Seeded - never before published Live Music taped by Monte. just look for seeds that were upped by dead-head_Monte

Monte's secret Tapes exposed

Thanks for bringing the history you do to our little forum. Flower

hey Dustin... howdy. I put these Tapes up specifically for ALL of YOU. A "torrent" file is simply like a fingerprint snapshot of the File Set (music files, etc). The torrent file is like a small text file w/ this data. You load the torrent into your bt client software application. And you join the "swarm." It is peer-to-peer networking on the Internet.

Bit Torrent terms

The torrent files I put out, are located at --

http://bt.etree.org

a) download and install a good bt client software. very small size - it's free
http://www.utorrent.com/download.php

tell you what - if you can install uTorrent on your computer, I'll put my etree links right here.

Bluegrass Alliance - SBD - 1975-09-23 w/ Vince Gill
http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=518516

Newgrass Revival - SBD - 1975-09-28
http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=514851

Boone Creek - SBD - 1976-03-20 w/ Ricky Scaggs, Jerry Douglas, and Vince Gill
http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=514916

Arabesque w/ Mike Scap, and the 2 Lazy River shows w/ Mark O'Connor and Vince Gill - all SBDs - I already posted these here on your Fourm - but I also made Torrents for them too

Lazy River w/ Mark O'Connor
http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=514860

Lazy River w/ Vince Gill
http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=514862

Arabesque w/ Mike Scap

Hillbilly Jazz band w/ Vassar Clements and Doug Jernigan on pedal steel
live at the Exit / In - Nashville - 1975-March 4th

live at the Exit / In - Nashville - 1975-March 5th

Now, click on one of my etree Links. Or, copy-paste one of the etree links. Paste it into your Browser's address to visit this link. You will arrive at the Info page for the Show you've chosen.

All the info is listed here. At the top of this webpage, the Torrent is listed. Try this. Right-click on the Torrent Link. A menu-list should pop-up. Select "copy link address"

Now, start your uTorrent program. Click on "File"  at the top in the Menu Bar. Select "Add Torrent from URL" A window will pop-up with the Torrent Link already pasted into it for you. It's the link you copied from the info page at etree. Go ahead and select "OK". you will begin downloading the show.

simply pay attention to "where" the files will be saved to on Your Computer. Often, this will be My Music, My Documents, or whatever.

with uTorrent. run the program. before you open a Torrent. Select "Options" from the top. then select "Preferences." 2nd item on Pref list is "Downloads." click on that. Top of this Window is the setting entry. you to decide where to put the new downloaded Torrents. This will be the complete File Set of each show. In fact, on each Show's info page at etree, you can list all the files there, and see what's up, 1st. When you open the Torrent in your uTorrent bt client program, the Torrent file is parsed. Before you begin the download of the File Set, you select which Files. After uTorrent parses the Torrent file set, the list appears. The check-marks are the File Selections. Just unCheck anything you don't want to download. Very simple. Straight-forward. Easy to use.

now, go get some ear candy.

Incredible. Thumbs Up

I can't get the FAQ to work on the suggested torrent. I would like one that doesn't take up much room (like the one you linked to)...but I run a MAC. There is a question in the FAQ about a mac version...but I can't get it to open.  Rolleyes

Any other suggestions?  Frown

Monte, haven't been using a Torrent, nor have I been converting FLAC, but you are the Man for posting these instructions, not to mention capturing and especially sharing this music.

I would get on it, but Corporate Acceptable Use Policy prohibits.

Maybe I can sweet talk one of the CO tapers, or a fellow Zoner to capture and forward on to me.

Regardless, just wanted to shout out Thanks!

peace

This tape recording is now available on The Internet Archive
Take It Easy Ranch - July 20, 1974
Josh Graves set, Norman Blake set, Vassar Clements set

Monte the Taper archives - list of all my tapes available on The Internet Archive

Matt, any chance you could share a photo of the band stand with me? I would enjoy putting a Take It Easy Ranch photo on the Internet Archive, along with the music files. I can do that. I'll give you a credit, and credit to whomever takes the photo. Any file format for a pic is fine. I use Photoshop, and I can do all the photo touch-up work on it. Medium resolution is preferred.

You have my e-mail address with the message that I sent you. You can attach a pic as a file, and e-mail it to me. Or, you can direct me to an Internet location where you posted a pic of it. It's all good. I'd like to share the photo with everyone. Thanks.

peace,
Monte
