I attend many festivals on the East Coast where I have my own camping gear which I can not schlep all the way out to Colorado on a plane. Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do for camping gear? Renting everything I need can get pricey. I'm up for any ideas I know people do this. Thanks!

Ship the stuff to yourself and pick it up at the post office (which is right outside the entrance of the festival).

Sorry just saw this.  I have been flying with gear to festivals for about 10 years now.  My camping gear is my backpacking gear; compact and light weight.  I usually can get everything in two checked bags and stay under the 50lb/bag limit: camping gear, clothes, taping gear, etc.  Key is to a) make sure your bags have wheels b) find a direct flight c) find a carrier that won't charge exorbitant fees for checked bags.  Hardest part then is getting from baggage claim to the rental car shuttle.  A little cumbersome but doable.  Hope this helps.
