Hence a road trip is definitely the preference if possible. Besides, it means i get to see more of the country if i come by car.
Saw 5 runs of shows in Vegas last year and currently have two runs coming up (Phil in a couple of weeks & SCI in March). It's definitely further than Denver -> Telluride, but at about 9.5 hours (if you don't dawdle) - it's very doable in the same day without being totally burnt.
I normally go from Ophir/Telluride -> Kayenta, AZ and then either turn north about 30 miles (west of Kayenta) up to Lake Powell, or continue on to Tuba City -> Flagstaff -> Kingman -> Vegas. Then typically return the other way to complete a mini loop. I'd say the Lake Powell route is a more scenic ... and even much more so if you opt to pass through Zion National Park. It'd add an additional 45 minutes at a minimum (if you don't stop), but definitely worth it if you have the time.
Thank you! Last year i got a ride up through New Mexico and it was stunning. This route looks fantastic too. Im a passenger only - am terrified about driving in your country ( why do you drive on the other side of the road anyway?)
