I think Santa just told Gretchen what he was going to put in her stocking! These two beautiful festivarians' souls are circling high above Town Park, up on Bridal Veil, 10,000 feet above the sound. Their spirit lives on in all of us who were blessed to know them. Rest in peace dear friends. Music is what brought us all together, has given us such great fun and laughter with friends, and music has helped heal our souls when one of us falls. We will all be together again at those big festival grounds in the sky, where the sky is always blue, the beer is always cold, the music never stops, and the banjo is never in tune but no one notices because it's FESTIVAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!! The Angel Band has grown over the years too, and I am so grateful to have seen almost all of them in Telluride at one time or another.
Thank you Jen for posting these great pictures. I'm also thinking about other festivarians who have crossed over: Lynne Lake, who was my great neighbor in camp for 8 years, Bryan "Squirrel" Dahl, and of course our beloved Jailhouse Tommy. May they all be dancing and smiling, and if you look over at just the right time, you'll see them there, right where they should be, on the tarp, in camp, down by the river, or just sitting quietly taking it all in. Peace, love, and safe travels in this journey of life I wish for all my friends -- those past, present, and those I haven't met yet!
