Me & Scuppers & the Mayor

My first Telluride was truly magical.  Those Colorado landscapes and blue skies and mountains have to be seen with your own eyes to be appreciated.  The music was heartfelt and off the charts good.  And the love and the kindness from our fellow Festivarians and the staff and the people of Telluride was beyond compare.  Returned home to West Virginia with my soul batteries fully recharged and the Karma bank all stocked up.

I know some of you had expressed concern about me bringing my dog to the Festival.   Wink  So I'd just like to show you some of his adventures and how everything turned out all right.

Scuppers getting frisky in the hotel room in Montorose.

Scupper's hanging out at our camping neighbor Charlie's campsite.  Charlie has been to 40 Telluride Bluegrass Festivals.  Good guy!

My buddies - The Gang of Four.  Orange it good to be King!

Me & Scuppers & some guy named Jerry Douglas up on the stage there.

Me & Scuppers & the Mayor.  Thank You Tom, you always had a smile and a story and a kind word each time we crossed paths.

Scuppers & our Thursday tarp friend Theresa.

Got a few more stories and pictures to post.  Continued -->

The continued adventures of the Pigwarden & Scuppers.

Thursday was pretty much the perfect day for me.  I'm a huge Robert Earl Keen, Jr. fan and his set was insanely good.  Hadn't seen Jerry Douglas in a few years but that Dobro is as silky smooth as ever.  Love me some Hot Rize and to get a little Red Knuckles and the Trailblazers was sweet.  John Butler Trio was new to me (i know, I know, I'm a little slow) and ended up my favorite new band of the fest.  And the announcer nailed it when he said 'calling these guys a house band is like calling the Taj Mahal a nice crib.  What a way to end the night.

First Festivarian Forum member to recognize Scuppers and come over to chat was Dave.  Always fun meeting new cool people.  Then Dave grabs his program and I see his entry 'TIE DYE VS. NECK TIES?' made the program on page 30, but he wanted to show me page 40...

Was blown away to see my words in the official 42nd annual Telluride program.  Thank you Brian and staff for choosing my entry, the perfect topper to the perfect day.

Scuppers and Gnome Pikelny hanging out.  Nerd Gnome humor rocks.

Scuppers getting his first Friday morning Ranger at the New Belgium beer tent.  Hair of the dog...

Me & Scuppers & Bevin - I had the expression of a complete doofus in this picture so I've pixelated my head - sue me.  Anyways this was my biggest moment of Festidipity (Festival Serendipity).  We were kind of squeezed in tight between 2 tarps when Bevin walks over to tell us the owner of the tarp was staying in camp and we were free to stretch out onto that tarp.  Wow, what a nice kindness this stranger was doing for us.  Before he turns away he notices Scuppers and says "hey I know that dog."  We start to chat and realize we know each other from this forum.  Had even traded some messages about helping to get us Town Park Camping tickets before things fell apart on my end.  Great meeting you Bevin, wish me & Scuppers could have made it to Camp DukTape and met the legendary DukTape Man.

Scuppers in the Smugglers brewpub.  I swear that dog could not pass a single bar without stopping in for a quick one.

Last one I promise.  Continued -->

The adventures of PigWarden & Scuppers - the Final chapter.

Thanks for making it this far.  A couple of personal pics and a few artist pics, for real artist pics check out some of the photographers on the Planet Bluegrass page.

New tarp friend Bernice who was enjoying every aspect of TGBF 2015

Good friend Gregg and his mandolin with the waterfall as a backdrop.

Truly enjoyed this set with Tim O'Brien, Kris Drever & Bridget Kearney in Elks Park.  And to end the set with 'Dance You Hippy Dance', which we did.

Festival!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Love the Live Salmon.  Got to talk with Vince a bit on Sunday evening.  Life is Good.

My favorite artistic shots was one of my last.  Skaggs - White - Cooder.  Got to talk with Ricky a bit at the Denver airport Tuesday morning.

What an awesome 4 days!  Thank you for letting me share in the magic.  To borrow a lyric from Elephant Revival:

The sun comes up.
The sun goes down.
The moon comes up
And people dance all around.   Wave

Looks like Scuppers had a great time at Fest, and that you seemed to enjoy yourself as well. Now that is the way all festivals should be.   Pirate
