Hello new friends!
Hope this finds you all well!!! So, It's true I am a Town Park and TBF virgin.
Here is my list of questions/comments...I so appreciate any and all feedback.  And am crossing my fingers that we will be there NEXT week...OH MY!!!!!
My husband and I (newlyweds! sound so strange to type husband!) and I are huge music lovers and go to lots of festivals, and shows but Jazz Fest - mainly shows in town..only one fest day.(honeymoon!), Kerrville, and Old Settlers are kind of our mainstay festivals. We've been wanting to go to TBF for years and unbeknownst to each other both entered the lottery and won!   We both got Town Park!!! YAY!! Honeymoon part deaux! JazzFest + TBG = Great Life!
Although, we planned on camping, not knowing what I was doing I also scored a Town Park Vehicle Pass in the lottery. Not knowing the layout, I didn't know what we would need/want.

And here comes the not awesome part.  We didn't think we were going to be able to make it.  We actually still don't which is why I'm writing this post. We are both so bummed and he says it's too late to make a plan..but I say we should try!! To late for what?!?! It's not over!!
FESTIVARIAN FUTURE FAMILY I NEED YOUR WISE GUIDANCE!!!

Here are my questions/concerns:
1. we won't be able to get there until Thursday, Wednesday night at the earliest, which, I know is not ideal...at all. In our initial research was kind of worrisome as it seems as if spending all this time and $ on tickets and prep and to travel from Texas, to arrive and have no place in Town Park to post, or be sleeping on the steps of a bathroom (as was noted on one of the threads) seems not awesome, and we should sell our tickets to someone who can make it earlier and enjoy the week there and we just cross our fingers and try again next year.

2. does the fact that we have Town Park camping passes and a vehicle pass make finding a space on the Thursday before the festival any more likely? If we use the vehicle parking pass, will we be forced to camp IN our car? Would we need to rent a camper? Yikes...this is getting so spensive sounding. yipes.

3. What If we were to offer our vehicle pass in trade for someone reserving a camping spot for us? It's at willcall!
Does this sort of thing happen? I'm sure I should have checked the buy/swap/trade page. DANG. I'm sorry Tom! But I will if that is an approved method. We are very nice!! and fun!!! and funny!!!

3. Am I being unrealistic to think we can pull this off, just a week before we need to arrive? I'n not crazy..I'm just optimistic and maybe a bit nuts from this Austin heat! All the more reason to get outta here!

4. Well...I guess I'll wait on 4 until I hear back from you O' wise ones!!

Thank you so much in advance!!!  I hope this time next week I'm there with you!!!!!

thank you thank you thank you!!!

You're not crazy and you absolutely should come to Telluride!

The first thing you should do is ditch the vehicle pass. You only need a vehicle pass if you intend to camp in your vehicle. Planet Bluegrass offers free parking for the weekend, which is the better method. Check with Debbie From Tuscon to see if she needs one. She can make sure it goes to someone who truly needs it. There are so few vehicle passes that we try, as a community, to save them for those who need to sleep in campers for medical reasons. Not to mention, if you can't get there until Wednesday or Thursday, you won't be able to find a good spot for your vehicle in the campground, or even a decent spot.

If it's just the two of you with one tent, you won't have any problem finding a spot. It may not be ideal, but it won't be on the steps of a bathroom. By that point, you won't be able to set up a full on camp site complete with sun shade, massive kitchen and a bar, but you will be able to find a spot to set up your tents and a few chairs and a cooler. You can always share the shad your neighbors set up, so you won't need your own.

Hi Lexi, sorry to not answer extensively, but your initial thoughts with arriving on Wednesday or thursday are correct that there will not be any place to park your car. I can almost guarantee that someone that is already there and needs the vehicle pass will be happy to hold onto camping spots for you. There is free parking in Mountain village that is a gondola ride away. I shot a message to a couple folks that are down there and I'm sure they will help you out.

Besides that, you shouldn't have any worry in the world. Plan on going, bring your tent and camp gear and you'll be just fine.

Yes, definitely give Debbie a call.
If you show up in Town Park with a vehicle pass and don't camp in it there will be a lot of upset festivarians. Frown
Think about it. There are 1200 campers in Town Park, and only 30 vehicle passes.
The elderly and handicapped need those passes to be able to be there.
By Wednesday afternoon there will be no place available to park a camper (or car for that matter) as every available space in the main part of Town Park will be taken up by tents.
If anyone is willing to throw down a place for your tent, go for it. Thumbs Up

Just show up, you'll have a blast.
Welcome to the family. Cheers

Excellent advice all around.  Specifically:

You should definitely come.  You should do everything you can to get there Wednesday night.

The Vehicle Pass is a great way to secure yourself a spot and possibly even a group to join up with - many people would be willing to save you a tent spot and take you in, in exchange for being able to buy that VP.

Debbie is the Ticket Goddess and can assist with arrangements but we're all about to hit the road to Telluride, so act quickly!

Now start packing!  And we'll see you there!

Thank you everyone!!!

I spoke with Debbie yesterday! What a great support team you all are.

Sadly, this is not going to be the year that we make it to TBG. Frown
We are beyond bummed, but will be there next year with out question.  I'll be posting my tickets on the Buy/Sell/Trade board.  Crossing my fingers and will be sending good fest energy and making a toast to you all from Austin.

Thank you again for all the responses. HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!
Til next year~
