I just found out that my hometown favorites, The Lil Smokies, will be playing in the band contest this year! They won the 2013 String Summit Band Contest, played the Wild Flower Pavilion at the Planet Bluegrass Ranch earlier this year and have been taking the Northwest by storm. Do not miss these guys! I will absolutely be at the band contest at Elk's Park! Missoula is representing this year!

That would be cool  We'd have the Lil' Smokies in the same place as Big Smoky.  How ironic!

Looks like they won't be arriving until Thursday. I've given them an open invitation to come camp, party and pick at Run a Muck should they desire.

My band Running Out Of Road will be in the band comp and would love to come and pick a few tunes for you all. We are staying at a condo in town, but we'd love to come down to the campground on Wed night. You can listen to our new album on our website at www.roormusic.com

Looking forward to another great festival!

I could not be more excited for The Lil Smokies, 2015 TBF Band Competition winners! You will absolutely want to check them out on the main stage next year! I'm sure they'll be doing some touring through Colorado before then, too, so get out there and support them!

Lil Smokies nailed it. I had only heard them via the net and was very impressed live. Came home to suggest our local listening room book them and he said that he had just heard from their booker. Yay!

As I said in another post, my pleasant surprise from the contest was Running out of Road, they did a great job and should be very proud of their showing.

The band competition was very competitive in my opinion, with the top four bands are doing a great job. I thought it would come down to Fireside Collective and Smokies but excellent performances by other bands complicated the picture.

Great job everyone!
