what if we have a parking pass in town?

i believe you will have to park in town and shuttle to your car when you want to use it.  If your car is in the campground after Wednesday night / very early Thursday morning it is there until Sunday night.  If you are parked near your tent and next to the road within the campground it will probably be trapped by tents and you won't have a chance to move it anyway.

Cars are not allowed to leave the campground once the festival starts.

...It's just too dangerous.

I'm not sure how/ why you have a parking pass for town, but it won't do you any good to and from the campground. Shuttles are the means of transportation.

If you don't have a parking pass for Ilium, then you will have to park out on the road that leads up to the campground, whether it is Tuesday or later in the week.  If you do have an Ilium parking pass, then your car gets parked next to your tent and cannot be moved once the festival begins.  The only way to get to and from town is the shuttle.  I am not sure I understand your plan with the town parking pass, but once the festival starts your car is pretty much stuck if it is parked at a campground (it won't be fun to get it un- and reparked from the road outside of the campground either, so it may as well be stuck there too).

This will be my second year staying in Mary E. We had a vehicle pass last year, and while nice if you have things that you want to lock up, it's not completely necessary. We do not have a pass this year and aren't worried about it at all

I'm camped at illum and in the band contest, I cant imagine any way to safely transport my upright bass on the shuttle. First Id be shocked if it would fit and even if it did I cant imagine it not getting bumped around by folks on the shuttle. They may look big and strong but basses are still delicate instruments.

How would you recommend getting my bass from illum to elks park without risking damage to the bridge and other delicate parts?

I would recommend figuring out which shuttle times are least crowded and planning on taking one of them with your bass.

You're only other option would be to find a festi-friend who is driving that way...but I'd imagine you're fairly limited on the types of vehicles that can transport your bass.

we could do a mass Illium Exxodus and serve as Body Guards for you and your bass? Im sure people would respect the fact that you are transporting a fragile, delicate instrument. I know we could pull it off safely.
It would be in a case right?
If you are playing the stage I think they have an instrument check in time?
So if when you initially got there you checked it, it would only need to make it back to Illium?.......right?

I read that you can stay as long as you have a four day or single day pass one the main camping page.  From reading other posts it does seem like regulations are pretty strict and campsites are monitored via wristbands. My wife, daughter and I will be staying at Ilium as well.  Just look for the little girl with white hair and you've found us.  There may be opportunities with other campers that may babysit.  This seems to be something pretty common and worth checking out.
