While I'm aware that much of this is at the mercy of a lottery to some extent, I am having a hard time deciding about which Saturday Nightgrass I want to go for: I know Greensky and SCR are both beloved, and I was wondering if anyone could point me toward recordings of either band (commercial or live recordings) that might help me make a decison? I've liked the latest Greensky studio record, but can't help but feel that live recordings will really help me make the decision. Recommendations for either band?

This board helped me to love Yonder and I'm hoping you all can help me figure this one out too?

I figure the worst thing that could happen is that we all end up with a strong list of recordings to amp us up  Cheers

I would go SCR . It's technically a pick em but SCR at the Sheridan is too infrequent to pass up IMO.

You can't wrong either way as you know.

SCR's Tell The Ones I Love is my current most played album.

 Cheers

Here's a great Greensky Show from String Summit last year. One of the best I've ever seen. The sound quality may not be the best, but the show was spectacular.

Greensky is my preference for sure ... they've got one foot in the door of being an "electric jam band" or hybrid thereof.  They're main stage performance last year was excellent.

But the SOH is almost like a big instrument which an acoustic band can make resonate itself.

"electric jam band" or hybrid thereof.   :burn
But the SOH is almost like a big instrument which an acoustic band can make resonate itself.   Thumbs Up

These two FOM comments are why I'll be @ The SOH for SCR.  Don't get me wrong, I'm a G'sky fan, fersure, but sometimes I lose my vibe during the "electric jamming".  I will give SCR a "vocals" nod as well...(just a s'wanderer's humble opinion)

Greensky. They are on a major roll now.
They have amazing songs and their newest cd is A+

The good thing about that nightgrass show is at least there's a chance to get in the doors in the lottery  Wink

I love this show with Sam Bush...but it's all good. imo

I do love SCR and The Sheridan is second to none, but I'll be at Greensky. It would be a more difficult decision for me if I didn't know that many of my fellow Run a Muck inmates will be making the trek to The Palm.

Damn. That show is hot stuff. Almost enough to convince me just from that one listen. Thanks for sharing. I love their version of "The Chain" and their original stuff is solid too.

I'm just thankful that I got to see GSBG many times
before they became the hot topic. Not a lot of forum chat
back in 2013. They are incredibly deserving of the success
they created. Reminds me of seeing Phisn and Panic in
clubs that held a couple hundred.  SCR  might be an easier
Ticket no matter that SOH holds less.
