[ I'm the former professional comedian and, therefor, the one you have to worry about!

The key word in that sentence is former.

"Keep your day job till your night job pays". I guess that didn't pan out in your case. OUCH!  Evil

Just because someone bought you a beer to get you off stage, doesn't make you a professional! LOL

According to US Laws governing the pay of entertainers, being bought a beer to leave the stage classifies you as a professional so long as the beer is a microbrew or an import of 7.0% ABV or higher.  Cheers

And I'll be paying the taxes on those beers to prove it!

Very excited to see Sam Bush.....not quite so excited about crunchy frog, but hey what's the worst it could do?

You know that we Aussies are very obsessed with cane toads don't you? They are feral and they are destroying large parts of our country and wildlife. Some folks freeze them....erk
Maybe I'll add a little Cane Toad toxin to the Crunchy Frog next summer to help tone it down a little.  Welcome to the fun Australian Fan!  I look forward to making fun of your accent!

Accent? Nah, it is you guys who have an accent! See you all there! X

Don't worry, Hooch thinks he's funnier than he actually is. I'm the former professional comedian and, therefor, the one you have to worry about!  Cheers
I don't claim to be funny.  I only claim to be the bartender.

Through my recent Sam Bush listening(thanks to ya'll for the recommendations) I am starting to get the Jeff Black connection.

Jeff sure does write some great songs. Including Circles Around Me and Same Old River, just to mention a couple...What are the chances Sam sings Circles Around Me in Telluride this summer? Please say "good"  Wink

Jeff's cd B-Sides and Confessions is a cheap buy on Amazon(used). Does he ever show up and play with Sam in Telluride? I know he's not in Sam's band.

Just in case anyone isn't on board here's a couple links of some Jeff songs, sung by Sam etc
SO GOOD. OMG

"Circles Around Me" is Sam's "Wagon Wheel" in that he'll play it at almost every show. I haven't seen him since 2010 without him singing it. It's more than just a great song; it's Sam's way of thanking us for letting him do this for a living. He's had one hell of a career and he's very grateful that we've been supporting him for over 40 years. You can be sure he'll sing it at Telluride, and you can be sure we'll all be crying when he does.

Plus the fact that the song mentions "Bridal Veil, high above Telluride..." makes it almost certain that he will play it.  I, too, haven't seen a Sammy show where he DIDN'T play it in many years.

By the way, it's a really fun song to play on guitar!

so i'm on board with these sam cds. is there another essential cd that i am missing? i know it wont be possible to know every song he plays cause i'm the new guy in town. this is what i own.
peaks on telluride
laps in seven
circles around me

also what's up with ymsb? i checked with amazon and they don't have any new releases. should i purchase their self titled 2006 cd and their 2003 release(old hands) or should i just grab what i can from archive.org and do the live show thing?

thanks peeps!

You've got my three favorite Sam CDs right there. Kind of My World and Glamour and Grits are also worth purchasing.

As for Yonder, my favorite CD of theirs remains their debut album, Elevation. Old Hands and Town by Town are also quite good, but to get the real Yonder experience, you need live music. Check out their Mountain Tracks releases. All of them are fantastic. That and archive should get you some idea of what you're in for.

Bridal Veil is an amazing waterfall above Telluride! Google it and you can learn about it. If you are in halfway decent shape you should make plans to hike to the top. I think it's like 2.5 miles or around there. A place you will never forget!!!

I would recommend doing it in a 4-wheel drive vehicle.
I have seen a Cadillac up there, but I wouldn't want to pay for the tow truck on that road. Evil

There are great hikes with trailheads right in town... no driving, great views.

I saw Hot Buttered Rum and Leftover Salmon together last night in Missoula. Leftover killed it, of course. I finally got to see them play "Steam Powered", a song I've never seen them play but have always wanted to! And Hot Buttered Rum was a great way to start out the night! Their cover of The Sex Pistols' "Anarchy" was inspired! The harmonies they broke out on that tune were insane! Something tells me I'll be going on a Hot Buttered Rum kick now.

Thanks to whomever posted Sam's full set from last year on youtube(audio only)
Can I assume Sam is ok with people audience recording his shows?
Wish he played Same Ol River last year...wonder why he didn't play it. It's such an amazing song++
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHsCubIpR3g

Also I was listening to Sam's Ice Caps cd and got a chuckle of Pastor Mustard's Heen. Classic!!
He's a dude! Is he still going to the fest after all these years? Last clip I saw of him was in 2012 introducing Sam's Band(also on youtube)...Definitely a REAL CHARACTER!!

Pastor Mustard, it seems, had returned for special engagements at TBF, as in introducing Sam, and a surprise visit to the House Band set.

Our own, Joe Craven has taken over as stage host, and we love us some Joe,althoughwe've missed the mustard.  Wink
