I'm guessing you're a youngster, probably in your early twenties, and you can wing-it outdoors pretty good. Imagine yourself this way, but now you're thirty-five or forty years older. That's me!
The bicycling-to-Telluride thing has come up a couple of times on here that I recall. Barely a whisper is all that was ever mentioned (try searching this site).
I'm often thinking about being outdoors and hiking, camping, or bicycling adventures. I've thought about riding from Fort Collins to Telluride. It's hard for me to imagine doing this alone. Going to TBF right afterwards makes it insane. Of course, it's crazy, and I'm not even a road-bicycle rider. I'd want to take my time, camp and/or share inexpensive lodging along the way, have an adventure, finance it on a shoestring budget, and go with other riders who are similar-minded and are very good bicycle mechanics. Somehow, I'd like to have the option of not bicycling home, but instead, share a car ride or bus ride back home with my gear. It's probably a pipe-dream, and coordinating this wish-list might be tricky to do. What's missing is enthusiasm for this. Frankly, I don't have thousands of dollars for this, but I'm a good cheerleader for it. I have plenty of time, some decent gear, and I'm in pretty good shape.
So, why am I posting this?
"Pedaler's Jamboree is a bicycle music festival (which I know nothing about). Riders cruise 37 miles along the scenic Katy Trail from Columbia, MO to Boonville, MO with various acts providing musical entertainment at stops along the way.""
And there's beer. Lots and lots of beer!"
Maybe someday soon we'll have a Planet Bluegrass "Pedaler's Jamboree Festival Ride" from Lyons (or the Denver-area) to Telluride, with some notable festivation sites along the way, probably about eight or ten days long, just guessing. I was hugely involved in this music scene forty years ago, and I love riding my bicycle in Colorado. I have plenty of spare time to help Planet Bluegrass put this together. Why not give it a try, or at least seriously consider doing this? I'm available for this job!
