3 chord's and a story that's me

Here's is a link to an interesting and rather sad story in the New York Times magazine about Tony Rice.  It sounds unlikely that we'll ever have the privilege of seeing Tony on the Telluride stage again, so that started me thinking about who could come close to playing the kind of swing music that was a hallmark of Tony's style with  Grisman and others.  Bryan Sutton immediately came to mind.  He can play it, and he did such a masterful job in the Elks Park tribute to Doc Watson a couple years ago.  I'd love to hear more from Bryan in general, and he could front a band that plays in the Tony and Django style.  What a fine fit for the Saturday dinner hour.  Let's see ... who could Bryan get on mandolin, bass, and fiddle to round out a quartet?

That is sad. He says always singing out of his range stressed his condition. Very interesting. He is special and never a dissapointment. Hard to see him so frail so young.

Bryan Sutton isn't a bad choice.
There is another up and coming artist that studied under Tony Rice and Tony is on his new album.
In fact they are personal friends. I was actually sent a pre-release copy of his CD about a year ago and it's wonderful.

I keep saying

The Handsome Family

but no one knows who they are.

Well, T. Bone Burnett selected one of their songs for this new show on HBO...

I'll second that! I don't know how these two slipped through PB's radar.

Here is their song from the opening sequence of True Detective.

Good stuff.  Thumbs Up

That would be so badass. Telegraph Road under
the stars in Telluride. My guess is that ain't happening.
But it's fun to think about. Cheers

Sorry, folks, I know everyone is eager to know what's happening.

We should be able to release whole thing on March 19.  You won't see Neil Young, I'm sad to say.

But, I realy love the lineup.  It's really classy.

Every year different, every year the same.

Yinjo/Yangdolin

Sorry if we're a little late on this, and we haven't been chatting as much as usual; but, jeesh, we're still washing sand out of EVERY SINGLE THING WE OWN!

All will be well.

You sound tired Ferg. Can I be Ferg for a day? Just one? I bet even your worst days would be my better ones LOL Thank you for the conception. It all started with you and I for one would love to know why music moves you to do this Fest each year. What is and was the inspiration that moved you to do Fests?

Thanks for the update, Ferg!  Thinking about March 19, and reviewing the already-posted lineup has raised the temperature over 0 here in Minneapolis....

C'mon summer solstice!
