Just saw Harpeth Rising (named for a river outside Nashville) at the Fox Valley Folk Festival, a great little fest every Labor Day weekend about an hour and a half west of Chicago. Perfect day, fantastic fest. The biggest surprise was Harpeth--I kept thinking I bet we see them on the stage at Telluride in the next couple or three years. Their 4th CD is due out next month; they have an interesting group; fiddle, cello, banjo, and percussion, and they all sing great harmony. Plenty on youtube to check out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3__wGtceFHchttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbqwYvbOhtshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKWKqNq4l7gThey can all play. And sing. They're a very different group, but seeing them reminded me of when I first saw Trampled by Turtles and thought, they'd fit right in at Telluride. And now they've been there twice! So much incredible music out there. It always lifts me spirits to discover a great new band.

Blitzen Trapper would be cool, too. I've been really getting into them lately.
