Jason Isbell

His most recent album is unbelievably good. While I'm not super into the particular version of "southern rock" he has put out with the 400 Unit, I would see him touring this album in a second. It's super personal and laced with reference (blatant and subtle) to his recent sobriety. It's a killer.

The Dead Winter Carpenters just tore it up in Missoula. Three free shows in three days. One of the shows had Tim Carbone and Andy Gossling of RRE sitting in with them. They'd fit in really well at Telluride!

Though not a new band by any means, Goose Creek Symphony has never played Telluride and they'd be a really fun set to have. They were the highlight of this year's River City Roots Festival in Missoula. Amazingly talented guys and such a blast to watch on stage.

This is probably my favorite Goose Creek video I've found. It's from their DVD.

I second whoever put up the Sugar Man, Rodriguez. I bet he would not have too much trouble finding a backup band here.
