So, where do you stop for food in Montrose to grab a bite on the way in or out of Telluride?

I almost exclusively stop at Guru's for their lunch buffet M-Sat ... it's a Nepalise / Indian restaurant.  They're located on Main St. (east of Townshend), about two blocks down on the south side of the street on a corner.  Just ate there yesterday, it's been a while ... figured I'd give them a pitch since they have good food and kind of flies under the radar for people passing through.

Otherwise, mostly stop at Burgur King @ dinner time ... since there's not any fast food in Telluride, it's kind of a "fix" of sorts.

We LOVE Gurus!!! It is SOOOOO good!!! Actually, we already have considered stopping there on our way! However, we have been out of Gunnison for almost a year, and it will be difficult to not enjoy our faves there instead!! All depends on the timing, I s'pose! Can't wait till Friday!!! TELLURIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For past festivals we have stopped at a Mexican place on the corner; family-owned and quite good.

Think it is called, Amelia's Hacienda Restaurante

Glad you had found Gurus!   Yeah, I can see how you'd want to revisit Gunnison first.  So what are you favorites in Gunnison?   I'm often pushing on through there (and Salida) ... partly because I haven't taken the time to find some good places.

Gunnison eats .. Blue Iguana Cantina!  it's on the main drag (hwy 50) on the left (if heading west) near center of town .. 4 streets past Legions Park (the park on right when you enter town).

Amica's in Salida has great fire oven pizzas and salads (and microbrews for those not behind the wheel).  I went there often when guiding the ark, big riverrat hangout. Cheers

The Daily Bread was awesome!
To be specific: the grilled turkey&swiss with bacon/avocado/spinach.

Bump for Gurus, will be going there for lunch today while in Montrose doing errands.

Also wanted to give a shout out to Taco del Gnar in Ridgway ... not sure if they were open last year, but they're just up the street (Telluride direction) from the grocery store by about 100 yards in a newer building with a deck.

I have no connection to them whatsoever, but had been hearing people raving about them for months and finally tried them during the off-season in April.   Well worth the stop!   Definitely not traditional Mexican; more of an eclectic / almost gormet, yet fast food taco place.   Not exactly cheap, but not too expensive either.   Order at counter and bring food to you.   There were rumors of them trying to setup shop in Telluride as well.

I don't believe so ... pretty sure it's 11-2 (or 2:30 ... which I guess is the on the borderline of "linner").
