As long as you're there, you're cool! LOL
It does't matter where you camp, as long as you join in the fun. Cheers

Another virgin here.
Just wondering if there are any other tips for those of us staying at Mary Illium (besides getting there early and showering at the hs)?

I wasn't aware that you weren't cool if you didnt get into Town Park, so I'll have to give that a shot next year. Wink

no one goes to TBF that is "uncool" it simply isn't allowed.  Flyer

Aw heck, this will be my 12th Festival and this is the first year that I'll be in Town Park.  Being cool in Town Park is hard to come by due to the lottery.  Tom's lucky to be mayor of Town Park!!  Maybe Planet Bluegrass will grant me the title of "Town Park Meter Maid" someday.

Some time before the festival (when the box office opens) you will exchange your ticket for a wristband. Thumbs Up

hey all,
just curious . . . what is face value for Town Park tickets? There are some online for $338, and I was wondering if I should buy those rather than rely on a miracle in the ticket swap/exchange thread on here . . . . it seems a bit pricy, and I've already bought a pass, however I am in Lawson and not Town Park . . .

I'm pretty sure the face value for Town Park passes is $245, so if they're scalping them on e-bay or whatever, it's your choice whether to pay it.
It's just not the festivarian way to ask more, and I know everyone here will agree. Thumbs Up

Okay so I have a question. Forgive me if it's been asked and answered already before somewhere...  Flower So let's say I decide that staying in a condo with some friends instead of camping is the way to go this year... being a TBF virgin and all that and not really knowing what to expect at all... now I KNOW all of you are huge Town Park/camping fans, but I'm not sure if I'll manage to get a Town Park pass this year... and some friends of mine have reserved a condo for a really reasonable price... and I'd rather not head to T-Ride to camp solo, although I would do it if it was necessary... so what does that mean? Does that mean if I know people camping in Town Park that I am unable to walk through Town Park looking for them? Does that mean I am not allowed to hang out in Town Park unless I am camping there? How different will my experience be if I do not camp? I am worried about PTO, and if I camped, I'd need to take three more days off than if I was staying in the condo... decisions, decisions!  I'm no good at them!!!  Argh Thanks for your input!!

Honestly, you are going to have fun no matter what.  I've camped in Illium and stayed in a condo and both are great.  You do get more fully immersed in the festival lifestyle when you camp, especially Town Park, from what I hear.  I'm a Town Park virgin this year, so I'll see what fun there is to be had.  That being said, it seems like there are SO many more people looking for tickets than there are people needing tickets.  Since you are an overall festival virgin, anywhere you stay will be an amazing experience.   I'm a planner, so if it was me, I'd just do the condo and not stress about trying to get into Town Park.  Plus I hear you about PTO.   That was a deciding factor for me in coming down Tuesday night instead of the weekend before.   I'd just be afraid to give up the condo to hold out for a TP ticket and then not end up getting either.  From what I understand, you have to have a TP or Warner Field wristband to get into Town Park any time of the day after Planet Bluegrass takes it over.   So you wouldn't be able to go in and looks for your friends unless you also had a TP pass.  No worries on that though, as the cell phone service is pretty good in Telluride and there's a message board just outside the festival where you can leave messages for friends.  I hope this helps!   Flower

You can come into Town Park any time until the day the festival starts. Once the festival has started you can only get into Town Park if you have a Warner Field or Town Park wristband. So if you get there a few days ahead of time you can join in on some of the pre-fest activities. Thumbs Up

There are several sections of Town Park.

1. The open field and stage area
2. Town Park camping area
3. Warner Fiels camping area

There are other threads that will like you to maps of the area in question. Driving from Maine, huh... maybe an atlas on the shopping list woiuld be a good idea also. See ya in June!

Everyone is "cool" at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival.  You will be saying this to yourself at some point during the festival.  Town Park IS the "coolest" place to camp for the festival, so try to get yourself a Town Park camping and festival pass next year.  And... I'm the "cool fool" brewin' for Telluride!  Hasta luego mi amigo!

This question may have been answered before but maybe not in detail so...

What exactly is story regarding needing quarters for showers in Town Park?  How much does one quarter get you?  How many quarters do I need for a decent length shower?  Is it more quarters for a hot shower versus a cold shower?  Can I throw quarters up and over the curtain if someone ahead of me is using too many quarters?  Is there a change machine to get quarters near the shower area?  Will they take Chuck E Cheese tokens in lieu of quarters?
