Is showing up tomorrow morning to Town park a horrible plan? I had something come up and either need to leave tonight or EARLY in the morning. Will I be SOL for a small space for my 2 man backpacker tent without having to get creative? I heard it can get competitive in TP.

So I'm planning on attending TBF in 2016...if I win a TCAMP lotto and pay $315 for a spot does that get both my wife and myself a camp spot or do we need to pay $630 for one tent spot

Camping passes and festival passes are sold on a per person basis, so yes you both need a Town Park pass no matter how many tents you're going to set up.

I stayed in Town Park back in 2009 and 2010, but I don't know answer to this question: If my friends and I are lucky enough to get 4-day passes with town park camping and a vehicle pass, can I retain camping and vehicle pass/rights, but sell all or portion of each 4-day music pass?  Bringing some newbies who only want to attend for a day or two.

Nope. All TownPark & Warner Field tickets are 4Day fest/camping passes. One single wristband. (No way to split it up)
There is no single day camping pass available, other than outside of town, @ Lawson Hill, and Mary E. Ilium. (shuttle bus to town/fest)
I've always heard that there are only 30 Town Park Vehicle passes, so don't count on winning one of those in the lottery.

Hi!  Getting super excited to try my luck at the lotto for camping!  If I am so lucky to actually score 2 passes, I am wondering what day would be the optimal day to arrive.  I have read through many of the posts and 99% say the earlier the better, which I totally agree.  Wondering if Tuesday night will be too late, or if I should just bite the bullet and get in line Saturday =)  Yahoo!  cant wait to see everyone

Yes!  Thank you.  That'll be my plan!  Can you help me understand the lay out of Town Park?  Is it an actual campground? Meaning folks can camp there whenever they want (when festivals are not taking place)?  And if it is a campground with actual numbered campsite, how does it work with the sites and lotto?  From a map I found, it looks like there are 40 'sites'.  Do they lotto X number of camping passes for Town Park and everyone communally sets up their spot?  My only experience with camping with Planet Bluegrass is at Lyons.  Which, I am sure you are familiar, there they have one large open space so if your tent fits then pitch it.
Also, reading the load in instructions for Warner site, it looks like you start the process Wednesday AM, with a line beginning about how long beforehand?  Since it is a pedestrian line with limited line leaving, do folks spending the night outside while waiting to load in?
THANK YOU!  I know chances for actually scoring lotto tix are slim, but there is a chance.  Either way, I'll camp where ever!

Town Park is an actual campground that is in operation during the year. Planet Bluegrass takes over the campground the Saturday before the festival. At that time, the designated sites go out the window and you pitch your tent wherever you can find room. That Saturday is also when the Bear Creek Preserve opens for camping, as that is usually just a nature/recreation area where tents are not allowed.

I'm not familiar with Warner Field as I have never camped there and only rarely visit.

I have been attending TBF for the last 8 years. The first 2, I camped in Illium, which was a great spot. After that, I made the move to Town Park. I've never once won the lottery, but I've always been able to find tickets for face value. Just be diligent and patient and never offer more than face value and you'll most likely find the camping you want.

I have a question re TP parking passes

Is it possible to drive in, all the way through town, with a car only, on Wednesday morning, and still get a parking spot?

I'm not worried about camping, just parking the car.

Thanks!

You'll be able to drive into town and unload your stuff in Town Park on Wednesday morning. Most likely, all spots will be filled in Carhenge in town, and you'll be directed to park in Mountain Village (and gondola into town).

Edit: are you asking if you have a TP Vehicle Pass if you're able to find a spot in TP? There's no such thing, to my knowledge, as a TP Parking pass.

If you actually have a Town Park Vehicle Pass then you best be camping in your vehicle. They are pure gold. Medal
Of course you would also need the Town Park Camping Pass to go along with it.
Spots for a Town Park Vehicle Pass will be difficult to find on Wednesday afternoon so I would suggest you get there a few days earlier.

If you just need a place to park your car and don't have a vehicle pass, you will be directed where to go, but it won't be very close to Town Park by that time.

i appreciate the help good people! just to be clear i should reword my question.

i have town park camp & 4 day festival ticket and a town park vehicle pass.

thanks to some good/kind people who show up early, my tent will already be set up on the wednesday so what i am hoping to do is drive right into town wednesday noon and park my car right in town park(with my town park vehicle pass). this year i don't want to go early to town park and hence my decision to buy the town park vehicle pass(for ease of the in and out of telluride). mountain village is a slight hassle that i don't want to have to deal with, if i don't have to and i know car henge will be sold out by wednesday noon.

so i'm just wondering if i show up at noon on wednesday to town park with the town park parking pass can i find a spot there(for sure)

thanks   Cheers

Please, please, please, please. Sell that vehicle pass on this forum. Since you are camping in a tent you will not need your vehicle during the time you are at fest. There are many long time Festivarians, that for health reasons need that vehicle pass to be a able to attend. Since you are a Town Park Virgin you are unaware of this and that is fine. The vehicle passes are really only for those that camp in their vehicle. So if you want to start your Town Park experience the right way and make a lot of friends, offer the vehicle pass for sale on this forum for face value! You will make an instant friend for life, and you will impress everyone on this forum, and every one in town park. If you keep it, and don't truly need it. Well that is your choice! Pirate
