The benefit to arriving Tuesday afternoon is that Tuesday night is the traditional "Tropical Tuesday" party.  And who doesn't like a good party?  I like a good party.  You like a good party.  Hot Sugar likes a good party...except he is not invited because last year we had a polka band and Sugar got drunk and barfed in the guy's tuba.  Anyhoo...yeah, so show up Tuesday.

In my defense, the guy was playing the tuba, and who wants to hear that?

Honestly, I have become nervous about this camping thing. Looks like Town Park usually accommodates 30 "spots" and during blue grass 30 spots becomes 1200 or more spots??

What is the etiquette on largeness of tent, shade shelter in the CAMP next to your tent. Is that taking too much land? I am hoping to be near trees. Can anyone tell me what section the trees are in?

Thanks Festivarians.

I have another question so I will just make a little list.

1. Is a tent and a shade structure too much of a footprint for camp site in Town Park?

2. Is water available to fill a 5 gallon container for use near your tent via an outdoor faucet at the bathhouse or elsewhere?

3. And are trees everywhere in Town Park or just in certain areas? I have tried to hunt down pictures of campgrounds but not sure if they are all Town Park or other camp spots.

Thanks in advance!!

Bring what you have and be flexible based on the spot you find. There will be plenty of water to tote. Much of town park is shaded, but there are areas of sun. DON'T be nervous.....you are about to have more fun than you thought was humanly possible, camping with the greatest people in the world! Except for AJ LOL Pirate

Okay...so I know some of the expert, experts are arriving well before Saturday (week before) and you must have some kind of system worked out...since there is a 7 day maximum at camp during non-festival time. Wave

If I arrive the Friday the 13th ( Frown) where would I hang out? In my car somewhere until landgrab Saturday?

Thanks in advance

You'll wander from camp to camp, distorting your reality, until you decide sitting in a chair all night with a bunch of other drunks sounds like fun.   Eventually, you'll pass out, and wake up just as the land rush is happening, with the sick odor of Crunchy Frog on your breath, and Duktape residue on your wrists.

You've been warned.

Yes, there are only 30 official spots in the Town Park campground, but when a festival takes over, they open up the bear creek preserve (a large recreation area with a creek and lots of trees) for camping as well. That's where most of us end up.

haha me too. I'm no stranger to camping or fests but this whole 2week campout is a little new to me. We're discussing the possibility of taking Monday off as well. I have family in the area and tons of friends in Durango. I'm sure it will all work out! Thanks for the info!

The 30 official camping spots and the primitive area (another section of Town Park) will hold 200 to 300 people, with the remaining 900 to 1000 camping in the Bear Creek Preserve.

It does get tight in some areas by the day before festival, but there's always a small patch of land where you can pitch a tent.

Some people get so desperate for land they camp right behind the porta-johns (not something I'd do) but you'll find space by looking around and talking to prospective neighbors.

We're all a friendly bunch so don't hesitate to come up to us and talk or ask questions. Flower
