Personally my favorite hike is called the Bottleworks Trail.  It goes from the Town Park campground to the Telluride Bottleworks liquor store and back.  Also great is the ever-popular Baked in Telluride Trail, which is parallel to the Bottleworks trail if your starting point is also Town Park.

i just found this thread. i gots some reading to do!

BTW this response is f'n funny!!

edit...im on page 45 so far. going backwards cause i can. u kats are a funny bunch.

I am curious to know wether the 24' length requirement for vehicles includes tongue length?  Also what is the practicality of fitting a vehicle of such a length into town park?

My understanding is that the 24' requirement does include tongue length. As far fitting a vehicle of that size into Town Park, you're only hope would be to get there early. Really early. At least a week and a half before the festival starts. If you try to roll in with a vehicle that size on Tuesday or Wednesday before the fest, you'll be out of luck.

The tongue and bumper would come into play, but the truck would need to be unhitched from the trailer and taken to festival parking

First time in Town Park. I know the camp grounds open up much earlier than the other sites. When would I have to get in to ensure a decent spot or is it that big of a deal?

Thanks,

Brian

It really depends on what you mean by a decent spot. How much space are you hoping to have? How many are camping with you? If it's just you and one tent, it shouldn't be too hard to find a space Tuesday or Wednesday.

Still not too bad. Tuesday would be better than Wednesday. Ask around and those of us who will have been there for several days will be able to help you find a space to squeeze into.

The last six years they were $6 for the first, refills with the cup, are $4. You can purchase a cool stainless steel one and bring IT back year after year for refills!

Waiting for the final lineup!

Booking flights this week.  They are about the same price for me into Grand Junction and Durango from the east coast.  Too expensive into Montrose for my family.

Which one would you choose we are flying in Tuesday and out the following Tuesday in the morning?

Grand Junction or Durango?

I'm an east coaster and had to make this same decision a few years back. I chose Grand Junction because they had cheaper flights and they both seemed relatively same distance. I can't speak for the terrain from Durango to Telluride but I can say its about an hour to Montrose( a good place to pick up supplies btw) from Grand Junction and then from Montrose you enter my favorite drive in all of America. I was so mesmerized I don't even remember how long it took. I wish it took longer the drive is so good. Its flat all the way from Grand Junction until you take the right to head up the mountain. Somebody else can give you the Durango lowdown but since you are doing the trip right by going Tuesday to Tuesday, it should be no issue going to and from Telluride. Enjoy. It will be a great trip!!!!
