TP virgin.  Have a party of 4 going.  Is there a size limit for tents?  Just attempting to plan.  Thank you

Welcome!  There's no size limit to tents.  That said, the earlier in the week you arrive, the better chance/easier it will be to set up a bigger footprint.

What a great time I had my first time at TBGF in Town Park campground. We left Denver late Monday night, pulled into TP around 6 am, found an awesome spot for three tents right on the bank of the river, Bridal Veil in view from our canopy. We could hear much of the music right from camp. What a wonderful community. I heard Yonder Mountain String Band playing in the campground Tuesday night, ate at a lovely potluck supper on Wednesday. Really an awesome time.
The experience was not without setbacks. I have asthma and COPD, and the thin oxygen was not good for me at all. I ended up at the ER in town on Saturday (the PB staff and Telluride EMTs were so helpful - clearly I was not the first to have that problem), and we left on Sunday morning, unfortunately. I'm a huge Elephant Revival fan and really looked forward to hearing them at Telluride.

The scenery, the town, the music, the people, the festival operation: all first rate!  Thumbs Up
Sorry you had to leave early. Those small oxygen tanks and inhalers can be a big help at altitude. Maybe we need an oxygen bar there these days.
It sounds like overall you had a good time. I did want to mention that more than likely the falls in your view were Ingram Falls. Bridal Veil is not visible until you drive far up the canyon and they appear on your right. Still a lovely view no matter which way you are looking!

There are no limits to the size of tent you bring, just be sure you are bringing a tent that you need. If all four are camping in the same tent, you will find a spot that it will fit in. Don't bring a tent that sleeps 10 if you are only going to have 4 Pirate

Help a newbie!  We are traveling from the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in NC by air to Denver, then to Telluride.  How do you recommend I get the stuff we need for the festival?  Chairs?  Blanket?  Cooler?  We'll be driving straight from the airport to Telluride on June 19.  Should I pack a box and ship to the hotel?  Or are there places to purchase these items that are reasonably priced?

Thanks for the advice.

Really depends on what you need. If you're not camping, then you don't have to worry about camping gear. If you have things that you want but can't take on the plane, many folks have recommended that you can ship them to the post office in Telluride and pick them up. But there is always the issue of shipping them back. Or there are places in town where you can always donate gently used gear.
I've flown into Denver many times, even with kids. I recommend that if you need to purchase things in bulk like food, blankets, coolers, chairs, tarps, etc... you can save a lot of $$$ by not buying them in Telluride. It's about 7-8 hours drive from Denver to Telluride. We usually stopped in Grand Junction, where they have things like Wal-Marts and liquor stores, and you can stock up your car there. From Grand Junction it is only about 1.5 hours to Telluride. If you need herbal recreation, that is easy to get in town. Often, we'd make friends in town, and things like tarps and chairs we'd just give away if we didn't want to carry them on the plane. The most important thing to bring, besides yourselves, is good clothes and footwear. It can range from brutally hot and sunny to freezing cold and snow. When the sun goes down, so does the thermometer. There is a packing list somewhere on this forum that is very helpful. Maybe another reader can point you to it.  Cheers

Well you can certainly buy everything in Telluride, if, money is no object. Remember this is a resort town. Also you will be arriving rather late in the game and selection may not be that good. People will be arriving the Friday before the festival so things will be pretty crowded by Wednesday. I would think that shipping your gear to your Hotel ( or hoddle according to John Hartford, anything for a rhyme) would be a great plan. You will have to ship it back though. Now if you buy inexpensive gear, you can always leave it in the community "free box" for those in need. Enjoy the magic of this Festival, it it like NO OTHER! Pirate

It's 1.5 hours to Telluride from Montrose, not Grand Junction.  Wink  Montrose does indeed have the shops above, with lower prices and better selection than Telluride.  Since you're in a hotel, I'd recommend an inexpensive cooler and camp chairs from Wal Mart, which can be donated to the free box in Telluride after you're done with them.

TP Virgin.
Lodging booked in Mountain Village as is Mary Illium; we'll decide before March 9 refund date camping vs. lodge.
Camping en route from SoCal reserved
4-Day tickets purchased
3 and 5 year old's excited.
Just need to convince the wife we can afford this crazy time; she knows she will have fun.
Question and this is for my nervous wife/mamma curious re: kids' stamina....
What are typical showtime on the main-stage? Start time? Daily end time?  When do Night Grass shows typically start/end?

Seems like music starts between 10-11am and ends between 1030-1130pm give or take. Nightgrass starts between 10-11 and can go till 2am. Nightgrass is typically 21 and over.

Those times are pretty accurate. I might suggest that if you are traveling with wee ones that you consider purchasing a large sun shade. That way you can set it up at the back of the festival grounds and give them a nice place where they can rest and nap during the day to recharge their batteries when they wind down. You can always make sojourns up to the front when you want too. One thing about TBF, they have the sound dialed in for that Box Canyon. Even in the back it is crystal clear, and you will love every minute of it.  Pirate
