This'll be me and my wife's first time at the festival (coming from Alabama) and I was just wondering if there is any picking and grinning in the campgrounds? We are staying at the high school campground. All the festivals I'm used to in the southeast has lots of jamming going on.
Thanks for the help!
Actually, the festi-family here in Telluride enforce a strict, no pickin' policy around these parts. What do you think this place is for? Dancing??? Jammin'??? Pickin'??? Grinnin'???
We like to get at least 8 or more hours of sleep over 10 days. If you get too handsy with your instrument, someone will expect you to serenade them the entire night.
We also have festi-police running around who don't take kindly to bongo drums.
If you sound particularly good, or have an extra fancy instrument, someone will expound on the superior quality of sound coming from your direction, and will likely ask to bang out a tune or two with you.
Of course, if you have bacon and/or beer, I'm sure that you can find someone who'll give you some earplugs so that you can't hear everyone "Shoosh" you. Hooch gets a little over zealous with the Shooshing. We ignore him, or try to make him pass out.
Of course, there's always Duck Tape, and plenty of it. We use it generously to silence whipper snappers...and make "GET OFF MY LAWN" signs.
AND...NO ONE... I repeat... NO ONE... EVER GRINS AROUND HERE.
If you're getting in before Wed., come to Town Park and say hi!
