TBF newbie here.  Have 4-day pass and camping at Lawson. 

Have a couple of questions:
1) I have read that there is a lot of pickin' going on at this fest and am wondering what people do with their instruments while they are at the stage?  I can't imagine leaving my guitars in my tent unlocked?  I have a cheap guitar I can bring.. but it sounds like .. well... not good.
2) Are there musical happenings at Lawson?

Hey Jeanine.  You will find jammin' almost anywhere you go around Telluride, that I can promise you  Thumbs Up     Many people leave their instruments in their tents, etc.  However, there is an instrument check-in area at the festival that you can utilize as well.  Enjoy your 1st TBF.  I know I did & have been back their 12 years in a row since my 1st time!  welcome to TBF you Festi-virgin! Thumbs Up YES LOTS OF PICKING!!!  pickin and to date we keep pretty honest company Festival Mentality... No one that Ive heard has had an instrument jacked... Not saying it cant happen but..... get to know your neighbors  :hug they WILL look out for you!
Theres a lot of Like-minded musicians and music lovers  that dont want to spoil the atmosphere! Drunk
Heck I leave my banjo and mando in my tent not to mention all my other stuff.. you can always keep it up in your ride but lugging it up and down can grow tiresome..   Just come relax and enjoy!

Thanks! I am sooooo excited.  I am a performing musician from San Diego and I would be heartbroken if something happened to my Martin. I'm really attached to it....  Plus, I cannot afford to replace it.  But with the instrument check, it could be possible to bring it along!

Is it June yet?

One little security trick for instruments:  get to know your neighbors!  Lots of times people will spend more time near their tent than you would expect, so it's nice to help each other out by keeping your eyes open.  That's especially important in those days before the fest when wrist bands are not checked - that's the only time I've seen non-Festivarians in the campgrounds.

Also, just a LITTLE bit of hiding can go a long way.  We lost a case of beer to a thief because we left it in plain sight.  They only took what they could see.  Had we put it into a cooler, my hangover would have probably been much worse.

For our boozers, save some of your empty bottles over the next few months.  Keep your booze stashed somewhere out of obvious sight, and fill up the empties with water/flat cola/weak iced tea/whatever you think is the right color for the label.   Leave those in obvious sight. 

Our resident drifter population will hit quick usually...grab a bottle, shove it in their coat/backpack, and take off.  Leave them something useless to steal.

NO, I believe one of the side effects of Crunchy Frog is that you don't think you are drunk..LOL   Kinda reminds me of a room mate I had in college, she was a little naive- had only been in the States from Korea for a few years- it was one of those I had to "help her hold her hair nights."  And she truly could not understand since she swore "she only drank koolaid."  LOL
