If you can sleep in line, good for you.
Right now if 8X10 is the tarp size, almost the majority are violating, even the Keltys take up more space.
I really probably shouldnt do this.... but I'm feeling fesity tonight... But, since we are on the subject- how about we just ban Kelty's and allow EZ up's only? At least , they dont block the view, become dangerous airborne things, and dont have tie-downed corners that become really easy to trip on...
Since I'm a denizen of Kelty Village I'll chime in briefly. Most of us (granted not all) do as much as we can to provide a line of sight for those behind us...I'm serious, we really do try. We also maximize the space by joining open sides (taking up much less real estate than the ez-ups). Finally, I rarely see unoccupied Keltys, but often see unoccupied, and much larger, ez-ups.
We stay in line overnight, take our numbers, and do the tarp run just like everyone else....only our goal is behind the tarps, chairs and whatnot. Big tarps? I couldn't care less, because when I've wanted to take the troops up front there has always been a fellow festivarian willing to share space, as we willingly share shelter from rain and snow and sun. Yeah, a kelty occasionally reaches escape velocity, but most of them are staked down pretty well, and there are always folks about to help with that. EZ ups are just as likely to fly (my buddy and I rescued an unoccupied one last year); I've seen a tarp or two launch as well.
The next generation of festivarians is already in attendance, so more importantly for us kelty villagers is that our kids enjoy the fest as much as we do, without sunburn (that was a lesson learned the hard way at our first TBF several years ago).
