What do you mean? I think it is you that needs to learn how to deal with them. It's a capitalist society and people are adapting to what they need to do to get in the front of the venue. I for one have nothing to do with the 24 hour line holding but I know what I need to do to get a decent spot.

What about sleepin in line dressed like a small bush... they will never know.

But really, how about a small hunters hut tent for 2 when it rains in line. you have to sit up, could that be legal, a small abode?

I think PBG should tarp the entire fest to bring folk together and reduce dust and half driven stakes that are an accident waitin to happen.

Yep you are right. Always the same issues for sure, and it is just not right to not address these issues. However I think they have been mulled over to death and unless you have a great solution, uhmmm. Fire away.

I do think the be one with your brother, be one with your tarp thing would be really good.

Oversize tarps = not a problem.  If you see open space, go sit there.  If the space isn't open, who cares if it's one tarp under the mass of people or 4?

Sleeping in line = not a problem.  It's been made clear to us that we are not in a campground when we are in line.  That means no shelters and no sleeping.  Those are the town rules we are supposed to abide by.  If you happen to be sleeping, you might miss your chance to get a #.  But we look out for each other and try to not let that happen.

So we're told the rules and we try to make it look like we're following them.  They aren't PB rules to enforce, they're the town rules.   If that bothers you, you should lobby your Marshal to come in and make sure nobody is sleeping.  I don't think you'll get too far with that though.

As my grandfather used to say to me:  If you have more complaints, take the elevator to the 5th floor and talk to the dummy.  If he won't help you, talk to the other dummy.  If he won't help you, jump out the window and land on your head:  problem solved.

Oversized tarps?

So you want to limit people from putting up a tarp for 30 friends who spend the week together festival style? Impossible task, improbable request. The large tarps are put out usually by two or more people in line for a large group. I put out one for about 8-10 people myself, you wanna limit that?

There is a no sleeping policy, but if I happen to be in line and "rest my eyes" for a few minutes, I don't see any problem with that.

Cant wait to see y'all, can't be soon enough!

local--

you are more than likely very well intentioned and concerned about having the best experience possible for all involved,......

but,....... it's also impossible not to notice throughout several threads you are very skilled at tossing a hot potato in the middle of the ring and then just retreating to watch the response.

solutions, harmony, and smiles brother.  c'mon, it's TBF!! Cheers

Our family loved the large tarps closer to the front.  We camped at the HS and never got our tarp that close, but we were welcomed on many large tarps for some of our favorite artists, especially Punch Brothers, Edgar Mayer (joined by Thile), and Thile/Daves.  We love large tarps with friendly Festivarians!

Just shedding light on obvious problems. I'm happy, I have a ticket, I am just bringing up issues that will need to be addressed sooner or later. I don't create the vibes. That's up to the reader.

Based on the responses the issues you list are only obvious to you.  Do you have any suggestions or specific complaints?

I'm trying to take you seriously, but your post sounds like....

Taxes and Regulations.....will congress take care of these obvious issues before the session is over?

Bro, these are not obvious problems.  People who let their dogs poo and don't clean it up.  That's an obvious problem.  There is a limit to the tarp size which has not been well enforced, probably because there are already more people for those tarps than they can fit.  IM not so HO Planet Bluegrass has done well to balance between the letter and spirit of the law.  How many groups set up a tarp up front and a shade hs. in the back?  Is that an obvious problem?  Cause I think it all works pretty well.  I've sat up front on vacant tarps, joined groups, and been asked to push on due to space, good w/ this.  Grabbed shade under a shade hs. no problem, glad I didn't have to set it out.  Now to wrap up obvious problem, the rush for the front at dusk:thirty.  Could we slide our tarps forward at the appropriate break?  Fully kidding, well not fully, just mostly. Rollin

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I think the Planet eliminated the tarp size limit of 7ft by 7ft some years ago.

I'm not sure if I would want more people running to the same places with smaller tarps or the present mayhem, either way it's mayhem.  I'd give the, everybody do a seven by seven, and see how it works.  Then again either a tarp up front or a shade hs. in the back, that might upset a few people.  I don't know what the right answers are, or who wants to police, if not everyone.  Will everyone play by the rules?  If the rules are most sensible and sensitive, and honest and fair, I think so.  Takes a while to get there, low back chairs are easy fruit and I like that people in the back can use their mega-recliners.  I love that the Festival promoters/ production/ participants have evolved well, tried things, failed, gestated, tried again, passed, room for improvement, improved.  Many prayers, much faith, good works, forgiveness.  Forward ever backward never, though looking back to learn, helpful.
