Alright, I'll share a couple.

Let's start at the beginning...

10 years ago RockyGrass hosted one of the more daring performances we've ever witnessed on Planet Bluegrass.  Two of our favorite, most virtuosic artists agreed to take the stage without sharing a single word before the set.  They proceeded to perform a 75-minute completely improvised set of music unlike anything we've ever heard.  Our minds are still blown by that performance.

Ten years later they have decided to revisit this completely improvised duet - to open the 39th Telluride Bluegrass.

Their only communication this year is about the name...

They both liked the image of Thelma & Louise.

Shifting gears to singer-songwriters, here's a new one for Telluride Bluegrass...

Though she's still being discovered here in the US, most astute music listeners in England know her well.  She won the 2011 Brit Award (similar to Grammys) for Best Female Artist, her first 2 albums were both nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize, and she just turned 22 years old.

She writes and sings like a young Joni Mitchell.  She pours her heart out in gorgeous flowing melodies over intricate acoustic guitar lines.  Backed by her full band her songs take surprising twists - dynamic, alternately dark and joyous, wise and briming with passion.

"Rambling Man" is a nice entry point (here performed in front of more than 75,000 people at Glastonbury)

Okay, not sure if anyone's still awake, but here's one more name from the 2012 Telluride Bluegrass lineup...

Someone told me long ago, there's a calm before the storm...

Medal

If so, I saw him at Outside Lands this past summer and he killed!

Thumbs Up

He's in absolute top form right now.  And backed by an incredible band.

Check out this fiery performance on Letterman late last fall...
