Howdy Friends!  :)

I've been watching comments and there is so much in the works that we are announcing on Solstice.  We're scrambling to fine tune things with artists to have the solstice announcement of many.

ALSO, we did intentionally do such a "low-key" onsale cuz we were worried about getting crushed and about scalpers.  I really don't think there were many scalpers.  Dustin combs the orders before they go out and he does the best we can. We've certainly had tons of discussions about size of orders, making festival all will call, etc. and it may go that way; but, we just thought all will call would just make lines crazy long and we just really don't know how many scalpers there really are to be concerned about. One guy can make a big impression offereing a ticket at a $1,000, but are there enough to really change the system and risk having long lines?????

That's why no tease, not tweet, no "Notes from Planet", no Facebook. But we STILL got crushed. We are all a bit dismayed that it was so frustrating for many.  We expected, and were prepared for a much bigger demand than last year; but JEESH!!!!!!!!

ANYWAY, that's not why you clicked on "Greetings from Ferg", now is it?

You want to know who is playing. Well.... so do I!  :)

But I do know some.  In the last couple years we did start leaking some names; and, to be honest, rather enjoyed teasing you.  :)

But the time has come to go ahead and sneak a few names out there now that things have at least slowed down a little bit.

Hmmm..... where do I start?  Well, I'd like to start at the very beginning and was hoping to have that settled by now, cuz I'm pretty sure what it is; but, we just can't connect the dots on the phone just yet.

SO, I'll start with what we probably all know.... but sometimes it sure aint easy getting it pulled together.....

Isn't this where I do that obnoxious "scroll for it" bit?

Usually, I guess.

And the festival is certainly full of its traditions........

So, scroll for it.......

:)

The House Band will again be returning to Telluride; and... it just don't get much better than that, eh?

Well, I typically don't even think about scheduling hints cuz its such a puzzle; but, cuz I'm in the holiday spirit (I'm actually not, but talking to you guys again might help A LOT), I can tell you when The House Band is playing.

It is Friday, right there in the Flecktones spot.  I can say they all worked really hard to make it happen, they love doing it; but, it is really hard to get all their schedules aligned with their rigorous schedules and multitudes of commitments.

I'm frankly amazed and thankful we were even able to pull it off this year. Again.

So, Friday. AND, something else to get off my chest while I'm being all "chatty". No Goat Rodeo this year.  As much as its an obvious play, Yo-Yo was already extremely committed elsewhere. That gentlemen seems booked into 2020; but, we are already trying to get them for 2014, even that looks tough.  But it is the 4oth and Chris and Edgar have been bringing it up often, I can tell you that.

THERE, phew, got that off my chest! Now maybe ticket sales will slow down to a more reasonable pace?

Please?

Thank you Ferg and the entire staff at Planet Bluegrass for all your hard work.  We have our tickets (actually you have them for Will Call) and we will be there next June regardless if you drop us a few more names before Christmas or not.

Happy Holidays to all my fellow Festivarians.

Thanks Ferg!  And despite the hassles, the struggles, the grief of trying to get our tickets, we'll all still hold out hope that (as always) it all "just works out".  After all, that's becoming part of the tradition as well now, ain't it?   LOL

Since you've come to us to help you with your holiday spirit, we ought to try and help you, right?  So consider this:  Folks use the word "Joy" a lot over the holidays.  Indeed, "Joy" might be the most prevalent emotion we all strive for this time of year.  The Joy of hearing an awesome rendition of our favorite holiday music, the joy of watching children and their presents, the joy of seeing the magic of the holidays touch them (light?!  Santa!!?).

You bring joy to tens of thousands of people every year.  Multiply that out over 40 years, and you've touched over a million lives, bringing us joy.  The joy of the music, the joy of the festival, the joy of the family.

So thank you, Santa Ferguson, for all you've done.  Happy holidays to your real family, from your very extended family.

If you build an amazing festival, ticket struggles will come.

Luckily the community seems to help each other out and for the most part things work out.....now I go back to waiting another week for initial announcement.

Thanks for the info, Ferg.  and thanks for the House Band.

I would hate to ever admit it, but you could book the Bay City Rollers, Justin Beiber, the William Shatner Band and Lady Gaga's wardrobe consultant and we'd STILL buy tickets cuz we would know that you would somehow take care of us musically.

We love what you do, and we sometimes just get over-excited thinking about it.  We're like little kids, wanting to shake the presents under the Festivus tree.  "We can't wait."  But of course, we CAN and WILL wait.  We just don't WANNA wait.

So thanks again.  And feel free to take you time.

But hurry!

I can't believe it is not even Winter yet. I feel like im in a desert and i need a long cool drink.

I sit here with a big smile, like a kid and it feels good to know you at PBG are all really in the same position. Looming facts getting squared up. GOOSEBUMP CITY!

It would be cool if we could unwrap words, like little gifts... I for one am very curious about this line up. Very excited!
