Pappy lived in the backwoods
Running his still all day
He made the best corn whiskey
turn all your blues away
We used to sit and sip with him
back when he was around
listening to his stories
they'd make you roll round on the ground
Pappy had a good life
Never did do no harm
but the day his life was taken from him
was when he was moving shine to the barn
You see he stored it up where the hay goes
way up top in the loft
he was climbing up the ladder
fell from almost all the way up top
Pappy didnt break his back no
No he didnt even hit his head
What killed Pappy that day was
the strangest thing they've said
Pappy alway kept in his back pocket
A big old spoon for sippin
And when Pappy came down that day
He came all the way down a flippin
Pappy always was a ladies man
But he went to the ground a bachelor
And pappy would be here today
If it werent for that damned old spatula!
