What are your best TBF memories?

In no particular order

1. chatting with Del McCory, his laugh and charm
2. hailstorm in '08 during the Duhks set--pure magic!
3. getting "lei-d" in camp flamingo and tenderly kissed by Jerry in '07
4. anything with Sam Bush playing but especially "Same Ol' River" in closing set of the house band
5. hearing Sarah Jaroz, especially the version of "Grandma's Hands" in '07
6.  discovering Greensky Bluegrass

The hail/snowball storm last year was GREAT!!! That was quite a refreshing mid-day treat. Oh yeah, that miniature tornado that whipped through the festival grounds...CRAZY!!!

Oh yeah, being introduced to Split Lip my first time in Telluride. That band will never be the same

Last year, playing kickball with the locals and looking out at the falls from the outfield while drinking a beer...

I remember being very unprepared, one pair of long pants, soaked in rain and snow, no raingear, sitting on rocky dirt with our tarp over us, shivering, physically miserable, and staying because the music was so great.  Our tent was soaked and we got no sleep that night.

I was doing some cleaning and found my flyer from my FIRST Telluride Bluegrass festival in 1980.
I was with child and was forced by my friends to climb up to bridal veil falls! Awww, to be young again!
Who played then you ask? Leon Russell, John McCuen, Doug Dillard, Peter Rowan, Steve Goodman, NEW GRASS REVIVAL, David Grisman Qunitet, Dan Crary, HOT RIZE, New Moon, JOHN HARTFORD, Norman Blake, Willas Adam Ramsey, Easy Pickins and Bob Lucas. Pastor Mustard emceed and ticket prices???
Advanced Weekend Price= $35.00! Fri= $10.00 and Sat. /Sun.= $15.00 each day!

I still feel that all Planet Bluegrass events are THE BEST events for the money!
I have the poster in the frame along side the 1981 flyer given to me by a special friend.

Prices this year were up... Weekend = $45.00 and Fri. =$10.00 and Sat. or Sun. =$15.00 each day.


These were the days where you just drove into town and into town park and camped- no lottery or anything. No land rush a week ahead of time.

The moon and Sammy, Johnny Cash spinnin me for a loop, Bela and The Flectones with Victors infectious smile, the river and trying to swim it, the discovery that yes,,, waterguns are really fun no matter what yer age......

We were used to going to party with an infant sleeping in a pile of coats, we just made sure we were there when people left, so taking an infant camping in the mountains and listening to music was part of the deal.  We were poor enough to  bring food and beer in a cooler, and it kept better than when we took a river trip. Too many of those years are a blur, and I can't even ask my daughter because she was too young to remember

Yes, we did the same... and we are still poor enough to bring our own food and drink! It leaves us with more money for tickets!

The band that came on before Johnny Cash that sang, "Johnny Cash, Johnny Cash, Johnny Cash he don't smoke hash."  Then later Johnny Cash, June carter cash and Roseanne cash sang.  It was awesome!   Also , Lyle Lovett, 1997, ended the show, so much fun!
