Oh, I meant to add. Get one of those silver hot/cold bags that say keeps for 3 hours... Then, you could even go back to camp- heat up the Pasta whatever and bring back to festival and serve there to your family...

Thanks for all the great advice and info, everyone!  I'm happy to hear that the food vendors have reasonable prices, phew!  Debbie, thanks for all the helpful ideas, and thanks to Mark and erndog for great details on food prices--this all really helps us to plan our budget for the festival--oh, and it made me hungry, too  :).  I feel a lot more relaxed about everything now.  Can't wait!

@ Co-mama, there is not a "quiet" section or party free zone in Town Park. However Warner field is  a great alternative. It is much more family friendly based on your concerns. An option could be to trade your Town Park tix for Warner, you will still have full access to TP, and Warner is right next door, a 2 minute walk to the TP festivities. Hope that helps. See you soon.

This thread is great with lots of awesome tips! We are long time festival goers. We have a 5 year old boy and he loves festivals. I am a little concerned this year as I am 5 months pregnant and I see there is no family camping in TP. I know Warner fields has family camp but we really wanted to try TP and hell for us parenting at festivals requires a beer or 2 (well not me this year.  Mad) I have been to TBG once, 10 years ago, so it is really our first time going.

Are there kids at TP? I keep reading the primitive area is the best camping spot for a 'quieter area". I don't mind the late night picking. I just don't love the stupid drunks. Plus as a 5 year old, he is starting to notice some partying that I am not as comfortable with.  I would love any thoughts and ideas! See you in a month!

HI There,
Good to hear there are going to be other kids at Town Park my wife and I along with our 3 & 7 year old will be camping at TP for our first TBF.   I share some of your concerns, but think it will be all good.  Sounds as though the set up at Town park is the way to go.

Not sure if you seen it mentioned but get your kids the biggest baddest squirt guns you could find.

about the squirt guns... Yes, they are fun but PLEASE tell your children to ASK before they squirt someone..... (rule that always worked here).. Yes, I have 2 boys and I know boys will be boys but I find is very rude and annoying, the kids who just go through the crowd squirting at will....

We take kids every year.  We are never bothered by the noise, it comes with the territory.  The worst part is the bathrooms late night/early mornings.  take is easy and enjoy!

Yes, thank you Debbie for mentioning this.  I wear contact lenses and if I get squirted in the eyes or face it can mess with my vision.

I'd also warn them that if they choose to be obnoxious, someone may elevate it to thermonuclear war.

about 18 years ago I was enjoying my day, and the kid next to us kept squirting us, despite repeated requests to please stop.  So we grabbed the garbage can from camp we were using to ice a keg, filled it with river water and carried it in.  I seem to recall telling Marilyn we were going to use it to refill squirt guns.

The next time the little bastard hit us, 2 of us grabbed the can, and one guy held the kid, and we dumped 20 gallons of cold river water on his head.

His mom & dad applauded us, as did the surrounding crowd, and we all lived in peace.

Saw Pastor from Fishbone get sprayed several times last year without warning. The kids didn't know he'd carried in a Super Soaker on day two or three, and when they didn't stop.. again... he puled it from under his chair and got 'em back GOOD! Chased them and wet them down properly!  Thumbs Up
