Roach - the only info I could find on-line was a fire up near Boulder. In the other extreme, the Yampa and the Colorado are way up.

There is a pretty major fire in Eastern Arizona (which is only growing bigger), and I understand the smoke plume has affected parts of Colorado.  I could see smoke from that fire being a factor at the festival, depending on the wind patterns in two weeks.

Oh no! Thats terrible!   Wasn't there a pretty decent fire at Flagstaff, AZ last year around this time, too?

I found this news but sound like they are pretty much under control

In southern Colorado, officials report progress against two
wildfires that collectively have scorched about 20 square miles. A lightning-sparked fire on the Colorado-New Mexico border and a second fire at Purgatorie River Canyon northeast of Trinidad are both 90 percent contained.

The fire in Boulder was just a couple of acres torned in lefthand Canyon right near the fire from last march.  It's all over

Oh no! Thats terrible!   Wasn't there a pretty decent fire at Flagstaff, AZ last year around this time, too?

There was, but it wasn't nearly as big.  The Wallow Fire (kind of between Hannagan Meadow and Alpine) is already at 140,000 acres (I think it was just 60,000 yesterday morning) and growing.  Already Arizona's 4th largest fire ever.

Horseshoe 2, Coronado NF.  Seven miles southwest of Portal, AZ. Timber and grass. Active fire behavior with crown fire in canyons. Numerous structures threatened. Evacuations in effect. 90,200 acres

Osha, Carson NF. Four miles east of Penasco, NM. Timber. Moderate fire activity. Structures threatened. 700 acres

Murphy, Coronado NF. Five miles east of Arivaca, AZ. Grass. Active fire behavior. Structures threatened. 21,000 acres

Riverside, Capitan District, New Mexico State Forestry. Twelve miles southeast of Hondo, NM. Grass. Moderate fire activity. 4,500 acres

Durfee, Apache-Sitgreaves NF. Fifty miles south of Winslow, AZ. Timber and grass. Minimal fire activity. 107 acres

Wells, Capitan District, New Mexico State Forestry. Twelve miles east of Pinon, NM. Slash and brush. No new information. 500 acres

Last year, May 23, 2010, there was a 500 hundred acre fire that closed Hwy 145 by Placerville for a time right before the fest.  Have friends that were quite relieved to get the rain & snow in early June to control that one!

Today in the a.m I was east of Durango, clear blue sky. Drove into Durango, haze coming in.  It will be hazy and smoky over the next week because the winds are gonna blow it this way.
Please be careful with your combustibles folks.  More often than not the big fires are human-caused.
