i honestly don't know what Camp Billy is doing.  I haven't heard of anyone stepping up to ABGAT this year, and since we still ahevnt' started packing, I'm going to be a wee bit busy!   So I guess we're just rolling the dice and assuming whoever does get there first can get our spots.  A little scary, I admit!

Ron, what year did Michael do the accidental ABGAT?

It may have been the same year, Ron!

Yes, Hope!  This was back in '98, before ABGAT became institutionalized (and people thought we should have been for going so early), and back when Ron & Michel didn't know each other.

As Ron & Michael told the story later, they got to talking in the bathroom, and found out they were both there for Bluegrass.  Michael was awfully confused, because here we were 4 days before the festival, and NOBODY was in the Arizona Bowl or Aspen Camp (remember, this is before the merger of those into Camp Billy).  When Ron informed him he was off by a week, he was ADAMANT that wasn't possible.  I mean, he builds a guitar for the festival, he ought to know when the heck it is!  If you know him, you can picture him arguing with Ron

Once he knew he was going to be there for another 2 weeks, he took off for like 5 days at Orvis   in the meantime, I showed up, and Ron & I took off for some adventuring up at Alta in some pretty deep snow, a supply run to Montrose, and various excursions into drunken debauchery

Correct...you're allowed to pay for 7 nights (used to be 14), so it makes hauling so much crap and building a small city even more worthwhile

I had to go back to my Camp and pull out the Town Park Tickets then head over to Camp Billy and SHOW Micheal the Tickets !!

  I bet the look on Micheal's face was priceless!    I would have put cash on the barrel head to see it too!  Oh.. I can't stop laughing....

Lisa D. - this is for the actual and original Town Park camping area that is open year 'round in Telluride. Not the Primitive Area where Camp Evergreen camped last year and not for The Preserve.

For those not in the know...
Micheal is the maker of Shanti Guitars, and he hand builds one each and every year for the Troubadour Winner as the Grand Prize. You just haven't lived until you've heard a Shanti Guitar in the right hands!

Wow, Hope, good memory! While some of the Evergreenites will still be in the primitive area, I'll be back in the Preserve.  I like that area better, plus it has closer potties!

Thanks Michelle!  We were all the way to the fence "down by the river", and it was glorious to hear that water flowing by, but having to navigate through all the tents in the field to go to the bathroom was a chore.  I'm betting the river might be a tad bit high this year!

Yeah, I'm 3 hours north of Telluride (in Grand Junction) and the Colorado River is raging.  The city has even barricaded off one of the river access points this morning.  If anyone wants a cold shower in Town Park then the waterfall won't disappoint.

In our great tradition of not getting our shit together until the last minute, I finally know that one of our camp (actually a Camp Kitten member, a outlying suburb of Camp Billy), named Kelly will be rolling in tomorrow to ABGAT for us.  I don't know exactly when, but be nice to her, you hoodlums!
