I'll go with AJ.  I always tell people back here in Indiana 10000 ft.

AJ is a popular name this time of year in Indiana.

I always think 8750 only because I really liked the 8750 reggae band from years ago. Whatever happened to them?

Did Rasta Stevie run out of his trust fund? Abduct

8750 is what comes to mind for me.

Wikipedia says 8750 ...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telluride,_Colorado

... but now I'm curious how the town's "official elevation" is calculated?    Since it's clear there's a fair amount of variability within the town boarders.    For example, there's a decent elevation gain on Oak street if you start at the river and walk up to the start of Tomboy Road.   At least in the neighborhood of 50 vertical ft. is my rough guess.    Perhaps the "center most point in town" (laterally) is where the elevation is measured, or maybe there's some sort of average akin to the way a house might have the corners of it's roof in relation to a grade measured out?

Good question though!

Billy on a map I have of the ski area from the year before Prospect Bowl opened, it lists the town station elev. at 8750.

However, when I moved to Mancos in '99, it was 7 under 7, that is 6993'.  In the last couple of years a lot of the signs have been replaced, and now the Mancos sign says 7000'.  I probably have a photo somewhere that says 8745'.

And if it is 8745', if I'm in the balcony at the Opera House, then I'm 8750', but that doesn't tell you how high I am.  Cheers

Also, originally from Florida, now in Nashville, and advise that camping in and amongst 14eeners is great, but you gotta have the stamina for camping on top of one.  giggle

(8,750 ft.  Thumbs Up )

Had heard that the Shelman Stage is 8745' maybe just from JC's Live album.  But after a day on the Festifield, it seems like another 1k' up Main St to the SOH!  Dr. Love

I say 2000 plus feet higher than the highest point on the east coast.  Made the hour trip from the house to attempt some high altitude malt beverage training, but the rangers just didn't understand.   Cheers
