Just looked at the announcement on the Plant's site - good stuff, and I like the lottery system.

Quick question - - - assuming you get a ticket to the show you want - how are tickets distributed?  Do you mail them out?  Are they 'e-mail' barcode tickets?

Thanks,

You'll have the option of either mailed tickets or Will Call when you sign up for the lotteries.

Nice try.  Nightgrass shows are ON, and in case you haven't quite figured out who is playing where, here's the news.

SHERIDAN:
Thurs - Kenny G
Fri - Micky Dolenz
Sat - The urn of Jerry Garcia's ashes
Sun - Nancy Sinatra, Jr.

FLY ME TO MY MOON:
Thurs - Mrs. Jackson's Kindergarten class (Xmas revisited)
Fri - Clarance Thomas and the Pepsi Cans
Sat - Aretha Franklin's hat
Sun - "Nantucket" Poetry slam

THE PALM
Thurs - Emmy Lou Harris vs. Abigail Washburn (WWF Championship)
Fri - Bacon Eating contest
Sat - HIP HOP EXTRAVAGANZA:  Kevin Federline, Vanilla Ice, John Boehner
Sun - Bluegrass Dustin & the Poser Pits

THAT should make you want tickets!  But I was unable to find out who's playing at the Conference Center.  Anyone know???

Can I see Aretha Franklin's hat on top of Jerry's urn of ashes? They are both on Saturday.  And I want a Sunday BDPP ticket please.

I read the rules for the nightgrass, if we elect to send a check in the mail by Monday, are we notified on Friday which shows we won and the final check price or else if we won 3/4 of the nightgrass shows then our check will be for the full amount of 4 shows when it should be for only the 3 shows.

Also, if we select check in the form, after we won, can we switch it to a credit card as long as the credit card number is received by that Monday??

You need to send a check for each show you entered into the lottery for.

I don't mind taking my chances with the masses, I figure keeping the doors as wide open as possible (apart from scalpers) will only underscore the fate of where you wind up later at night  ... which will be the place you're supposed to be.

IMO, "tethering" nightgrass tix to festival tix might undermine the "general availability" of bluegrass which keeps it open to as wide an audience as possible on several different fronts.   In reality, I don't think it's going to serve as a "backdoor" for people to flood up here and be "stuck" & cause problems.    First off, I think there's going to be a huge demand from folks who already have festival tix ... so the math of the situation will have it that the ovewhelming majority of NG tix will fall into hands of people who are already situated.   Of the remainder, I just don't see hoards of people winding up in Telluride without a place to sleep -- but with nightgrass stubs in hand -- tipping over cars on mainstreet at 4:40am & whatever else rioters do.

It's hard to fault anyone to want to increase their odds of getting NG tix, but would like to counter the notion of even considering "closing the system".   There are already too many closed systems in Telluride for my liking.
I agree. Many folks don't want to sit in the festival all day, or they are working all day, and just want to see a few select shows. It is great that these night shows are available for that.  I know I have driven up for many of them when I couldn't attend all the festival days, and it was no problem.  When you live up here, you know what to do, where to park, and where to stay, all legal but not common knowledge. Now that is information that  I won't share with people who only come here for a week once a year, because it is privileged info,  but I would certainly never try to tell them that it's not an open event - all are welcome. Well, all over 21 at some of the shows. People are adults, they can figure these things out usually.
