Hi everyone!
So I won the lotto and will be camping onsite for my first Rockygrass! I have some friends that are also considering coming the festival and I just wanted to see how this all worked out as far as haning out with them if they do not have onsite camping.
Im guessing the obvious which is..if you dont have a pass/bracelet you cant get into the onsite campground? So is the only place to really hang at the stage/venue area? Do some of the off site camping allow other ppl in? Just trying to figure out late night and possibly hanging with some friends.
Any help/suggestions are appreciated!

April -

You are correct. If they do not have an on site camping pass they will not be able to hang with you on site.

However, you should be able to hang with them some at the Meadow Park campground.

Cheers

Since we're on the subject of on-site camping ... I'm trying to figure all this out too. My question is about on-site camping and the whole tarp-run, daytime spot-saving business. When you're camping on site, does all that apply to you? Is the on-site camping spot cordoned off from the tarp/meadow area? Do we also have to stand in line till late in order to get an admittance number for the next day?

How do on-ite people usually handle all this? It seems to me that indulging in a late-night pick would be a lot more fun than waiting in line, and that sleeping in a little and waking up to full-fledged stage music would be superior to standing around then rushing in with a tarp. But then ... what happens during the day? Is it impossible to find a spot up close or anywhere near the stage?

 Wave
For RockyGrass and Folks Fest on-site camping at Planet Bluegrass:
There are two camping areas - one for tents and vehicles, one for tents only.
The camping areas are adjacent to but separate from the festival area.
The tarp numbers line forms every night, because at the end of each festival day, you gather your belongings and tarps and clear the festival grounds.  Each morning is a new tarp run.

Here's the tarp line policy:
www.bluegrass.com/rockygrass/rules.html

There's really not a bad seat in the house, but some people love to be right up front or have their favorite spots.  If you don't get a spot up front, you can tarp surf and sit on unoccupied tarps until the owners return or you can ask to share temporary tarp space.
