On site tent only camping questions/advice

First time on site camper.  For the onsite tent only sites, do you park in the general parking on the side of festival field and walk in your stuff?  Does the tent only sites fill up quicker than the tent and vehicle section? Or most people go for the tent and vehicle section first? Is the tent only section pretty scenic near the river?  Any tips?
