At the outset of the pandemic, the Free Box was closed for public health reasons.  I totally understood this and likewise give them slack for not necessarily wanting to open it up until the conditions were "right" again.  It's still not open.

It appears there has been some pressure from various corners to revisit the intentional demise of the Free Box and a work session item has been placed on the Town of Telluride town council's agenda for this upcoming Tuesday to consider the matter.  It takes place between 10am-noon MDT and is on Zoom, so anyone can tune in; and, I believe anyone - regardless of where you live - can comment if the format holds with prior Zoom meetings.  I encourage anyone who has an interest in speaking out to save the Free Box to do so!

I've never participated in the Free Box fashion show, but I know it's a much looked forward to event that would be a shame if it were to suddenly vanish due to the general trajectory of gentrification (among other things) Telluride has been experiencing in recent years.

There is also a t-shirt available for purchase that I bought a couple days ago on the street.  It's a basic shirt that says "I Love the Free Box - Telluride" in a groovy font.  I'm not sure if they have a website or FB group setup yet, but will post anything to this effect if I find it.
