Hello, festivarians, counting the days and hoping that the beautiful weather holds up. I am going to have a little free time outside of my volunteer commitment and around my priority musical listening and so I'm hoping to get in a hike or two over the weekend. Can anyone offer any ideas that would be in the neighborhood of 3-5 hours door to door from Lyons (including driving to trail head and back)? Moderate difficulty, ie not 14ers but not river walks either. And feel to let me know if anyone interested in joining up. Most likely going to be Sat morning and/or Sun early afternoon. Thanks for any/all ideas.

St. Vrain Mountain Trail in Allenspark is a beautiful forested hike off of Ski Road. Also, Ceran St. Vrain Trail is another great one above Jamestown, access off the Peak to Peak Hwy, aka Hwy 72.

Brainard Lake Recreation Area is amazing, but can be busy on the weekends. If heading to Boulder, parking in the NCAR parking lot and hiking from there you will find a bunch of great moderate hikes. Bear Peak would be a challenging and moderate hike.

Have fun!
