[ Every day this week we're sharing a newer artist on this year's 25th Annual Folks Festival, leading up to the complete single-day lineup, and single-day tickets, this Friday, April 24. ]

For our second Folks Fest “newer band” addition, we’re proud to present The Family Crest.

The San Francisco-based 7-piece (featuring trombone, flute, cello, fiddle, and a solidly driving acoustic rhythm section) blew me away at this year's SxSW.  They were tight, dramatic, joyous, and Liam's lead vocals were absolutely stunning.

Paste and NPR have recently named The Family Crest one of their “favorite new bands” for very good reason. With captivating songs, sweeping cinematic crescendos, and albums that feature hundreds of guest musicians (!!), SPIN says they have “ambition wide enough to swallow you whole.” And as a live band, with 7 musicians onstage, they completely deliver on that ambition and more. We can’t wait for them to take the stage of the 25th Rocky Mtn Folks Festival.

Check out their 3-song NPR Tiny Desk Concert and the creative video for their song "The World" shot and performed in gorgeous locations around California.
