Yep! It's a very popular place! If you are by yourself, you really, may not need a tarp or blanket. There will be room for you to squeeze in with Festivarians, that's where the beer tent comes in,    !

Ok, I'm 53, over weight & out of shape.  lol  My wife tells me that I'm going to die in the thin air.  She says the'll be a lot of walking / hiking.  (also, I'll be without my cpap machine.  lol).  What do you experienced festivarians say?  I mean this ain't my first rodeo but I do have an arthritic back.  So, should I update my will before I leave?  lol

You'll get used to the thin air, might have a headache for a day or two though. You can do as much, or as little, walking as you'd like. If you stay in the festival grounds most of the time, you don't need to walk much. If you're more inclined to wander around, then you might do a little walking.

Indeed, I haven't brought a tarp or chair the past two years. I actually enjoy it more, it's less limiting. Usually not hard to find an empty spot up front.

If you feel like you need oxygen go to the first aid tent and they can check your levels.
If you do need oxygen they can help temporarily.
There are other festivarians that have cpap machines and I have to sleep with oxygen as well.
If you're in Town Park camping stop by for a quick hit of oxygen.

So funny. can you fit in my wagon?? free shuttles so walk as little or as much as you like, condense your trips in and out of fest and give yourself plenty of water and 1 day to acclimate. You will be fine. LOL

Drink plenty of water and bring a refillable bottle so you can drink some between beers...you don't want the rocky mtn hangover!  Also, I quick Google search will provide a few pointers ragout acclimating. Cheers🍻

High altitude is not to be messed with if you have medical issues, and in this instance, I will side with you wife.

There are CPAP machines that can be charged so you can use them at night. FIND ONE AND BRING IT WITH YOU! Think this machine costs too much? Telluride Medical Center is not cheap, and neither is a helicopter ride to St. Mary's in Grand Junction.

You should be very mindful of the fact that if you don't take you health seriously you have the potential of REALLY screwing up someone else's vacation.

This goes for the rest of you too. Bring your meds.

Altitude sickness is very real. Read up on it and when you do get to Telluride, give yourself time to acclimate. Water, water, water, dehydration is no fun. I have blacked out before from dehydration, very briefly but it is so preventable. Also, ginger is very good for altitude sickness.  Ginger ale, pickled ginger, ginger snaps, all helpful.  And of course there is Melissa Ginger who is very helpful in many ways but I don't think altitude sickness can be cured by her.  She will definitely make you feel better though!    
There is a great shuttle bus in the town so maybe you won't have to walk so much. You have 2 months to get ready, so get to it and you will be rewarded with a wonderful festival experience.
And please, if you are there and feeling poorly, don't be afraid to ask for assistance. Like Hope said, we are all here to enjoy the music and each other, so take care of yourself and pace yourself. You won't miss out on anything.
