greensky bluegrass, who i am seeing next month in denver for the first time, is who i am really hoping for...i wonder what the chances are that they won't be there? ie) are they a for sure?

TBG without GSBG is like a Christmas without presents.  Going to the beach without getting in the ocean.

Maybe so, but nothing is a "for sure"....depends on what else they've got up their sleeve

Except Sammy, of course. As long as he's physically able to play TBF, he'll be there. It's been 40 years since he first played Telluride and he hasn't missed one since.

Started my own thread before I saw this one.

Here's my hopes for 2015, besides what I think is a given (not necessarily my dream team)

Mumford and Sons
Old Crow Medicine Show
Steep Canyons Rangers (love seeing Steve Martin, but prefer the Rangers by themselves)
Railroad Earth
Brandi Carlile
Infamous Stringdusters

I am thinking/hoping Greensky is a given

Wave Thumbs Up Cheers Flower LOL
After reading through everybody's I would agree Dolly and Alison Krauss would be amazing!

1. Bobby, Phil, Billy, Mickey, + whomever they choose
2. whoever
3. whoever
4. whoever
5. whoever

I would not object....as long as Phil does sing more than two songs

Let the fest begin!

Surprise me!  You always have, with such well-known bluegrass artists like:

Wilco
David Byrne
kd lang
Robert Plant
Steve Winwood
New Orleans Social club
Sharon Jones & Dap Kings
Bobby McFerrin
Richard Thompson
John Fogerty
Feist
Sarah McLachlan
Barenaked Ladies

Sometimes I wonder if I could just skip over the announcement of the lineup, knowing that it will be great no matter what.  But I just get too excited to be able to let that happen.

Well lessee...

Neil Young, if he doesn't have a wedding schedule conflict.
Jeff Tweedy, with Wilco or his solo, his choice, and/or
Jay Farrar, with Son Volt or without, do he and Jeff get along these days?
Trampled By Turtles
Infamous Stringdusters
Sam Beam with whatever Iron & Wine incarnation
Burns/Convertino and whatever version of Calexico
I hope Greensky Bluegrass is just a given by now
I hope they got Yo-Yo Ma booked 3 years ago for 2015 so we can hear some Goat Rodeo
Then connect the dots to a Crooked Still get-together
I second (or third) the Rawlings/Welch with emphasis on Welch
Jason Isbell (yes, again)
Patty Griffin
Neko Case
Neutral Milk Hotel if they're out and about (their live show in Abq last year was great)
Tea Leaf Green for something different
Drew Kennedy (his last two albums have been really good)

and finally, They Who Shall Not Be Named  Evil (which is actually a pretty good band name, but this is the place-holder for the band or individual performer that you, dear reader, do not want to see at the festival, and you'll gripe about it, but they'll be there anyway)  Evil If they're not already up there on my list, that is...

Mix some of these in with the cast of regulars and you got yourself a feeessstttiiivaaaalll!
