John Hartford on a hang glider

I have a vague recollection of a John Hartford appearance at TBGF in the late 70's or early 80's when he "hanglided" to the stage.  John actually did not hang glide to the festival, but a real hanglider dressed as John landed behind the stage, and John Hartford came out and began his show to a rousing applause.  Many memories from the festival are foggy from that period, so I am questioning my own memory, does anyone else recall that performance?
