general question please

Hi there.   This is my first time to Rocky Grass.  Last year I went to Folks festival for saturday only.  I am going by myself and wanted your advice as to what time I should show up on friday to get a decent spot.   I'm there for all 3 days, and am not camping.  I like sitting on the left side of the stage in those trees.  If anyone can give me a shout out I'd appreciate it.

That shade side fills in pretty quick. People get lottery line numbers the night before and are the first few hundred (or more) people in. They stay up and in line until somewhat late (well after midnight). If you are not camping, this may not be practical. Then the next line forms at the entrance early in the morning (7ish maybe?). I would guess though, that since you are by yourself, your best bet is to show up when you get there and make some friends. The empty tarp rule applies, where you can use space until the 'owner' returns. You can probably find a little spot for yourself if you don't have tons of stuff. Otherwise, it is kind of fun to get there early, get in line and meet your new festival friends. Hope that helps a little. Glad you are coming!

If you're by yourself, you won't have any trouble making new friends and finding tarp space to share.  I wouldn't worry about the line too much if I were you.  See you there!
