Hey Now!

One of my most favorite things about Rocky Grass is the instrumentals and the band competition. I love it because it gives me a chance to hear new talent and people from all over the states. Remember that family of kids from North Carolina??  Their bass player had to stand on a stool to play her bass!  What about the kids from Alaska? There are some I still look up on YouTube because I want to hear what their doing now.

So now I find myself here in the dead of winter in Chicago, daydreaming  of Rocky Grass!  Anybody want to suggest someone they've heard locally that might soothe my jones?!

I will suggest Billy Strings from Lansing, Mi. A young 20 something who likes the old times sounds. Killer harmonies.

Whatcha got people?!!

Check out Cascade Crescendo out of Portland, OR.  Four talented guys putting out what they call "Pacific NW jamgrass."  I'm a huge fan.  They were in the 2017 band competition at RG this year.

The 2016 winners The Wooks out of KY were a lot of fun to see on the mainstage this summer, too.

Love me some Billy Strings!  And love to see him on the TBF lineup this year.  Happy listening!

Thank you for the suggestions! I do follow the previous winners and love The Wooks!

I'm totally a Rocky Grass girl so I had NO IDEA that Billy Strings is on the Telluride line-up!  That's fantastic!!

Right on, hope you like them!

And super cool about B. Strings.  Got my fingers crossed for an NG, too, but I may just be getting greedy now.   Wink
