Riverbend Spots on Friday

Hey yall, I have never camped Riverbend with my kid and not sure how this works exactly. I won't be able to get there until Friday morning. Are all there still camping spots on Friday in the shade or in the family area? Or should I try to drive down to reserve a spot on Thursday? Can I reserve a spot with just a tarp.?.... this family tent is not difficult to get up solo. Any specific info would be helpful. I dont want to drive down on Thursday to reserve a spot and drive back with a three-year-old if I dont have to. Thanks so much!
