I'm in the Academy as an advanced bass student and my 1947 K5 bass just suffered a bad fall. It was already in rough shape, but now I'm looking for a good repair shop and/or another bass to buy or borrow for my summer gig season. Does anyone have any leads on a good Bluegrass bass that's affordable or a suggestion on a good repair shop?

Contact RedKnuckles here on the forum.
He does bass repair and may also have a loaner for you.

From what I hear this is a very good bass luthier, and I know he has rentals:

Also try Kalocny music - they had a 40's Kay in their floor a couple of months ago - along with 6-7 other basses that may work for you depending on budget.
